This is a trait shared by most human beings in general, regardless of their religion. People want to stand up for what they believe in, though unfortunately the concept of free speech is lost on many people, and they become insulting.
In the words of the great French philosopher, Voltaire, "i may not agree with that you have to say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it"
Live and let live, thats what i say.

Muslim's tend to be edgy about others questioning their beliefs because chronologically speaking, they are one of the 'newest' religious groups. Christians, Jews, Buddhists etc. have been around far longer.
This has two effects. Firstly it means that Islamic states are just that; countries where culture and Islamic religion are inseparable. Therefore any questioning/attack on Islam is perceived as an attack on that nation state and its culture. Secondly because Christianity and Buddhism (and other non-nation specific religions) are by essence a personal choice (again only generally) not a national culture, they have adapted to tolerate the existence of other beliefs to a greater extent. This was not the case say 500 years ago; as the crusades prove younger religions tend to be more insular, aggressive and intolerant.
Again this is only a generalisation; many many Muslims have no problem with 'questions' and recognise that exploration is an essential part of religious self expression. Unfortunately those who find it necessary to 'throw temper tantrums' often make the most noise.

You see....
i would answer your questions about islam...
i didn't read yours but....
Some questions aren't actully "QUESTIONS"
They are only intended to offend muslims....
Yahoo! Answers is a community, where muslims are considered a minorty, and they get the type of questions i just mentioned all the time...
i don't know about you, but i always see both types of questions...
It is your right to ask, as it is my right to answer....
If you question is serious, and demaing information or asking real questions about islam, then i will answer you in the proper way...
if you question is only to offend and insult muslims
then i will have to defend my religion....
example to an offensive question:
"why dont we kill all muslims" or "why are muslims terrorists" and such....
Normally, an answer to such a question would be:
SHUT THE *$ UP!!!!!
Also, islam is not race.... RIGHT!
But what is hapepening is called DESCRIMINATION
By the way, yes, i'm a muslim
i'll look for your questions to give some answers....
also, you can PM me
----------------------------------
Addition:
I read you questions about the verses from the koran...
i would answer you if the question was still open
also, you must know that many people try to change the meanings of koran in translation just to degrade islam
and with all do respect:
i would adivce you to ask questions without providing "what you think is the answer, because it could be wrong and then people will start insulting you again"
yo need to know that many muslims feel that they are in an defensive situation....
Personally, i dont need any one to tell me lies about my religion which i know almost every thing about...
i just try to answer questions

Yes, I've noticed that also. They're quick in temper, low in tolerance. Fortunately, the ones in my circle of friends are not that way because they being Lebanese, their temperment is different, and the fact they've been in America for 20-25 plus years. And they've had other Muslims go off on them!
But to answer your question, I don't know. Just they're hot headed temperment, I guess.

i m sorry to hear that other Muslims treated u that way. Believe me, if u ask me question abt my religion i.e Islam, i will
thank u first and foremost, 'coz it shows ur concern abt others' beliefs, and an oppurtunity for u to seek the truth, as well
as a chance for me to shamelessly promote my own religion. So, thanx for having to ask that question, and i will be very
willing to help u with all ur question in perspective of my own religion, so u can contact me through here, or drop me a line
at askabtIslam@yahoo.com.

so you're saying other religions don't do that. Everybody does! stop blaming it all on us. This girl had a question about having a hard time being a Muslim and most of her answers said, stop being Muslim. Wow, great Muslims really bash people.
What about the other religions who ask sick questions?

Same reason Christians throw a fit when you question their beliefs...
I think you'll find an equal number of close-minded tantrum throwers from every religion across the board. And from Athiests as well...

It depends on how you ask the question.
Why not try asking your questions in a nicer way and not being so aggressive when asking.
I know you have a very good sense of humour you have proved that the other day,so all i can say to you is be nicer.
Best wishes from.
Doughnut LOL.

LMAO! Are you SERIOUS!!???
I have YET to come across a Muslim on here who gets offended if someone asks about their religion, in fact, even if they are blasted for their beliefs, the majority simply do NOT bite! Now if you'd have said CHRISTIANS...

They all study the Quara'n .
Those that really believe it are the most extreme.
I too have received much hate mail them.
Much more than any other group I commented about, answered questions about, or even questioned.
