I understand that if you want to develop a digital cam pic and have it print out to 6x4", that the dimension has to be at least 1800x1200... Currently my camera takes pics at 2400x1900, which is very large, and the file size for each pic is about 2.3megs... In ACDSee i resized it to 2300x1700, and the file size dropped all the way to 316KB.. That's a dramatic drop from 2.3megs.. and i only resized it a little.... do you think the quality of the pic is much lessened because of this? I cant tell on my screen, but will i tell when i develop the pics?

The reduction in resolution is not enough to fully account for the reduced file size. You also lost image quality. Whether or not you'll notice that in a 6x4 print is another matter however. 316kb should still be plenty.

As a rule, any picture that's good enough to have printed, is also good enough to save at the original file size. (If you don't have the space, get a new hard disk.) I mean, I reduce the size of pictures for email or web pages all the time, but then I throw those tiny files away. Why would you EVER reduce the size of an image to get it printed? That's when you want all the resolution and quality you can get.

Hi, I recommand you to try google picasa.

picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.

It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video clips.

It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google

Download it free in here:
