I met an elderly woman at a church function with the gift of prophesy. She prophesied over me and the things that she said opened my eyes to God's plan for me including finding my husband. I feel that she was truly a prophet and when I was there I felt that she was truly somebody who had been touched by God. This is simply my little experience.

There is no such thing as a modern day prophet. A prophet on the order of the Old Testament prophets spoke the words of God as they were given to them. Prophets of the Old Testament were forth telling whereas they spoke of future events. The test of a prophet of God was that what they spoke came to pass 100% or it was not of God. All who claimed to be a prophet and if what they said did not come to pass, they were false prophets. The office of prophet ceased with Christ because he was the one of whom the prophets spoke of and he fulfilled the prophesies of the Old Testament prophets. All supposed prophets since Christ were false prophets, IE, Mohammad, Joseph Smith and others plus a hoard of supposedly self-proclaimed prophets of the present Charismatic Word/Faith movement that is so prevalent in many supposed Christian churches today. False prophets of today are such people as Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson and most of your TV preachers of today.

This movement is what has all but replaced Christianity with the preaching of the gospel of greed that had turned off so many of the secular world.
