with my science knowledge I believe that will end my existence. But with my Buddhist knowledge the soul leaves the body and enters another body. The soul become a ghost which is lost without knowing that its body has died. Once the soul knows it decided to go to another place another existence. It depends upon how you behave in your life you can enter a worse existence or better existence. It is very rare that you are born again as a human . It is usually animal forms. That is why cannot commit suicide since it is so precious that you have a higher brain than other living creatures on earth. This is the time you have to be aware of how to reach Nivirna where the ulitmate place of non existence and non suffering.
There are ways to achieve Nirvana and many Buddhist will try to do this when they become fed up or afraid of being born again....

When our biological body dies, our consciousness, life force, soul, whatever, continues to exist as it always has, in another dimension. Our biological form is merely a vessel for our life force to experience life on this plane of reality. The complex wiring of our brain facilitates this inter dimensional connection, so when the brain ceases to function, we assume our natural state, elsewhere.
We have all done this before, and we will all do this again...and again and again, until such time as we get it right. When that happens, we will then inhabit a higher form of life during our next incarnations. This process repeats itself until such time as we acheive enlightenment, and our education is complete.
In order for this system to acheive the desired results, we are stripped of any memory of previous incarnations, so that we have to face the challenges fresh. The only time that we are cognizant of the full experience of our continued existance is between incarnations, when we reflect on what, if anything, was acheived towards our enlightenment. This dimension of existance exists on a plane of reality where time is extralinear, and the fullness of the entire universe, all fourteen dimensions of it, are clear and comprehensible. We, in our current human form, are not capable of comprehending this perspective on reality aside from intellectually, and through expressions of higher mathematics, in particular, but not limited to, multi dimensional non euclidean geometery.
What does this all mean in the greater scheme of things? Diddly squat, at least for the moment. Live your life, and do the best you can, and maybe, just maybe, you'll get it right this time. That's it.

No, you do not go into another earthly body. your body has died because of whatever reason, accident, sickness, whatever, but you have a spirit within you that came from God. That spirit goes back to Him. Ecclesiastes ch 12 in the bible explains that. Everyone that has ever died is with God now and there has been no judgement on them yet. The whole purpose of our life is to be transformed into the image of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Think of the butterfly. We are now in the cocoon stage. For those who do not yet know that Jesus is Lord. They will find out in due time. God is not angry with us as He has made peace with us through His Son. A little more than you asked for but it is the answer to the question.

ok.......here's my thinking behind the whole thing......
u die...there has to be something beyond our physical existance...our souls or spirits...funny u asked if we go into other bodies...i believe that that is possible...maybe someone who deserved a second chance, or someone lonely...not just anybody...i believe if u lived a good life, that's it, ur spirit moves on and u are completely aware of it, although some spirit may not be, like those who where murdered, those whose lives where taken away from them...
i just hope things are like the way i say....ppl say different things...that's all i guess =)
ok more...i dont think there is a heaven or hell...at least as a physical/spiritual place...when u die, ur spirit or soul, however u want to call it, just goes where u want, of course if ur one of the spirits aware that they have left their physical bodies...(those are the ones that rest in peace, so i guess u can say ur in a state of heaven) those spirits that dont deserve the state of heaven go into a state of hell (not being aware of ur death...) see where im coming from...=)

Do you have an electric light nearby? Turn off the switch. Where did the light go? Into another lightbulb?
The word "die" means "stop living" so if you were living somewhere else (like another body) then you would not be dead, would you?

I'm an atheist, which means that I'm one of those who admit they DON'T KNOW what happens and who DO NOT TEND TO BELIEVE THAT THEY KNOW what happens. But I can speculate... I would say that "disintegration of our body to the level of molecules" sounds ok. And so called "soul" would disintegrate as well...
Anyway... personally, I think it would be cool if there are places called heaven and hell... but I doubt it. And I guess it would be not so cool if there are things called reincarnation and carma if without memory of the previous life...

what happens at death is no mystery to Jehovah, the Creator of the brain, when a person dies, he ceases to exist. Death is the oppsite of life. The dead do not see or hear or think. Not even one part of us survives the death of the body. We do not possess an immortal soul or spirit. (Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10). Jesus spoke about the conditions of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: ''Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.'' Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a buring hell.

For the human body, the physiological consequences of death follow a recognized sequence through early changes into bloating, then decay to changes after decay and finally skeletal remains.
Soon after death (15–120 minutes depending on various factors), the body begins to cool (algor mortis), becomes pallid (pallor mortis), and internal sphincter muscles relax, leading to the release of urine, feces, and stomach contents if the body is moved. The blood moves to pool in the lowest parts of the body, livor mortis (dependent lividity), within 30 minutes and then begins to coagulate. The body experiences muscle stiffening (rigor mortis) which peaks at around 12 hours after death and is gone in another 24 (depending on temperature) as enzymes begin to break down the tissues. Within a day, the body starts to show signs of decomposition (decay), both autolytic changes and from 'attacking' organisms—bacteria, fungi, insects, mammalian scavengers, etc. Internally, the body structures begin to collapse, the skin loses integration with the underlying tissues, and bacterial action creates gases which cause bloating and swelling. The rate of decay is enormously variable and depends on numerous factors. Thus, a body may be reduced to skeletal remains in days, though it is possible under certain conditions for remains to stay largely intact for many years.

you turn back into soil again ! that's decomposition by the work of bacteria..we as christians believe that very soon Jesus the Son of God, Himself also is God, will come back from heaven, somewhere above, to take His people home... first thing is that He will call from the sky and those people who died believing in Him will be raised from DEATH !!! even those who did not know Jesus but did GOOD before death, would also be raised to eternal life.... But for the wicked, opposite, sad to say but they will be burned when Jesus burns this earth and changes it to paradise .. God bless you...
