If you are running Win XP you may be able to "restore" your PC back to an earlier date using the restore function and then you could add certain helpful apps to your PC. Hopefully your PC has been setup to automatically create restore points. Click on: "Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore" if you have XP then follow the instructions. Look for a restore date in the calendar earlier than when your problems started and run the Restore for that date. If you are successful [or even if you aren't] consider downloading the following programs: AD-Aware, Spybot and AVAST Antivirus...they are all free as long as you use them for personal use ONLY and they WORK! You might also want to go to the PandaSoft webpage and run their On-line Anti-virus first before you do anything else. It may take a while but it's worth it. If you cannot get your PC back for some reason, you may have to reinstall the Operating System! If you get it back, install and run those three programs I mentioned EVERY WEEK or more often[ I and several thousand others DO!]. As an added protection you could also download, install and use the Firefox browser if you are not real secure about revising and tightening online security in IE6. Some web-sites are just not Firefox friendly is all. Another caution...be careful downloading "junk"! It usually has very UN-cool stuff hiding in it!

Good Luck.

OMG thank heavens I have a MAC, and that I use Safari/Mail instead of Internet Explorer/Outlook!!

Good luck! I would personally download everything I needed onto a portable hard drive and mind-wipe the computer. Either that or get a MAC and stick to non-Microsoft programs.

You may have to take it somewhere. I had a lot of spyware in my computer and got one of the programs to rid my computer of it. I had to recognise all the file names and ended up ridding my computer of stuff I needed! I had to take it and get it straightened out. I'm sorry to say that I've had to do that twice. Spyware is everywhere! My husband and I finally got apple computers and now we don't have that problem.

Try running a virus scan and clean or quarantine infected files and folders, do the same with microsoft anti spyware. This **** infects your coputer then wants to charge you to remove it, try using system restore and go back to a date you know you were clean.
