Okay, some of these answers are ridiculous. It's happened to me before and I wanted to die. But, this really isn't as bad as it may seem right now.
I went to a salon and bought Redken supplies. Anti-snap will be the best purchase you can make! Your daughter will fall in love with this stuff and it really isn't too expensive. (About $16-$20). You put in some of this right after the shower and it really quinches your hair. If her hair is anything like mine, she'll be able to put some moose in it and where it curly for a couple of weeks. This will keep her away from heat, like a blow dryer or a straightener. Good luck. (Go with Redken, you'll love it and it works really well!)

YES! Very important! Do not add any more chemicals and get her to a salon for a deep conditioning treatment. Then perhaps a haircut to cut damaged ends might be in order.

Nice try Mom, I'm sure it was well intended,, but she's worth the money to have a professional take over from here to save and repair her hair.

this happened to me many year's ago..
Another thing i want to let you know that home dying is only meant to lighten hair up to 3 shade's, You probally should have done it slowly over a few week's. She may find that her hair wil thin out a lot, and if her experience was like mine she will lose a lot when running her finger's through her hair it will be rough.
I advise you take her to a salon or any hairdressder's explain your situation and ask them what is best, As yes deep conditioning is good, but any wrong use of shampoo's could damage her hair more so, Do NOT use hot oil treatments as this will roughen up the hair if they are not used properly, Try to avoid leting her shampoo her hair as much as she used too as this will strip oil, if possible, she shouldn't wash her hair for 4 day's so that natural oil's can be restored to her hair,
Best bet is to see your hairdresser,
best of luck,
x3

I did that to my hair one time. All you can do is let it grow back out until you feel that it is long enough to cut. I fried mine so bad that it fell out about an inch from the top of my head. It just takes a little time for it to grow back. All you can do now is treat the hair with good conditioners. But all that will do is help condition it from breaking off even more than it already is. Before long you will have to cut it though because even though you can condition it good it's still going to be damaged. It's just like having split ends, even though you treat them you still cut them when they are bad. Just give it some time to grow out a little.

Get and good deep conditioner, and leave it in for a little longer than the recommendation on the bottle. (about 5 minutes should be good.) I would suggest Aussie 3 minute miracle, or Garnier Fructis. I dye/highlight my hair alot also, but i keep it in good condition by deep conditioning it often. I would suggest doing it once a day or every other day until you see some improvement.

my mom is a beautician
she says "if u dont want to cut it , go to a salon and buy BIOLAGE HYDRATING SHAMPOO and the conditioning balm . use daily, leave condition in while u r in the shower for about 5 minutes. also u should get frequent trims on it. if it is REALLY fried ; almost gummy, nuthing may work. u may have to cut it. but i would try this for a month. if it is in the worst condition, DO NOT PUT A HOT IRON IN THIS HAIR. IT COULD BREAK OFF. also watever u do DO NOT PUT ANY MORE CHEMICALS IN THE HAIR.

Dove advanced care therapy shampoo and conditioner or dove shampoo for color treated hair help restore the moisture in your hair. Leave in conditioner can help too. I fried my hair a few times too and dove helped a lot. I know I sound like a commercial but these things work. Oh and a hot oil treatment may help too, you can buy them to do in the shower.

I'm a hairstylist! You need to spend the money and take her to a professional. Her hair probably needs to be toned, but if you try to do it yourself it could be a bad result. Have the stylist recommend a good conditioner. There is no easy way out of it and PLEASE don't cut her hair off because of this!!

Frizz Ease makes many products for damaged hair and you can buy them in places like WalMart, K-Mart and many grocery stores. In between washing her hair, V05 conditioning hairdressing works well.

Hot oil treatments. Soak it in dark beer for 15 minutes. Mayonnaise for 10 minutes.
If you try all three, rinse between each treatment.
