Cardio would suffice. Weight training, with heavy weights, would just add up pounds because of the muscle you gain.

How long are your cardio sets? Hopefully they're about an hour? If they aren't, you will need to build to this, the more the better! This burns fat.
Weights are excellent to add to your program, as a matter of fact, it's the perfect combo. Weight training will burn calories, while the cardio will burn fat, what a perfect workout. Combining cardio, weights, and a good diet is even better. If you're at a plateau, increase your cardio, add some weights, and watch your body change!
You can get dvd's for weight training, if you want to do it at home.

Weight training will help A LOT! You need to do cardio AND resistance training to lose weight!!!!
**Muscle burns more calories than fat, so if you build up more muscle, you burn more fat even when you are just sitting on your @ss. The fat on your body consumes VERY few calories, compared to your muscles. That't the best way to shape up, is by turning all your fat into muscle! Plus, then when you do lose all the fat, underneath you will be toned, instead of just a smaller version of what you were before. Weight lifting changes the shape of your body, cardio mostly just makes it smaller.
My advice: do both! I do cardio 3-5 times a week, and weight lifting twice. If you don't want crazy big muscles, you just do lower weights, fewer reps. Body builders do very few reps, but heavy weight.

Weight training is great for any age! However, loosing weight is not always about the numbers on a scale. When you build muscle you loose fat & you'll notice it in the size by how your clothes fit. And no, you won't get muscle bound unless you train to do so. The great news is if you weight train now, & continue to do so you'll remain strong & healthy in your old age. If you talk to a professional trainer, they'll tell you the ins & outs of weight training since it sounds like you go to the gym often.

Lifting weights is a very integral part of losing fat. Muscle is what burns calories, not fat. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn when your not doing anything, and when you're doing an activity, thus it is easier to lose fat. If you lose weight by just doing cardio, you are also going to be losing fat. This means that you will have an increasingly harder time losing fat. Keep in mind, weight is not the important thing, it's your body fat percentage.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Cardio is fine. I like to switch it out with weight training cause i get bored. I use weights that are comfortable but I do increased reps instead of adding weight on. I just want to tone a bit...not bulk out.
Muscle weighs more than fat, so while you will look thinner in your clothes you will also weigh a little more.
Congrats on losing 45 pounds..thats wonderful.

once you're in everyday condition, artwork on respiratory and cardio first. Then upload some potential instruction. Muscle might assist you employ greater energy, and you will use those you ingest greater effectively. i began out with stairs. 2 flights of8 steps each and every. no longer I do between 12 and 30 an afternoon, reckoning on how i've got faith, do no longer consume after 8 at evening, drink in hassle-free terms in between nutrition...and that i've got lost 10 pounds. No, you don't have to weight train to lose weight...but in losing weight we often get some loose skin (flab) and don't target all the muscle groups with our cardio workouts, so something toning is good to help prevent the flab somewhat, and to tone up the muscles our cardio isn't affecting heavily.
I like to do yoga for toning, or I have a few toning video tapes that target abs or legs or butt or arms and I'll rotate through them to hit all the areas.

No but it helps in the weight loss process. It takes more energy to maintain muscle mass then it does fat, so your body burns fat off naturaly the more muscle you have.
If you dont wanna bulk up like a body builder try toning up. Use less weight with more repetition, more sets.
I do both myself because I like to mix it up and I dont think you can go wrong with any kind of exercising, its all good.
