my Godmother went to see a play at the church. it was getting late so she decided to leave and go to work. on her way out she heard an angelic voice say, "Don't leave, your gonna get a rose." she listened to the voice and stayed there. then the priest started blessing several families for various reasons. then the priest went up to my Godmother and asked if her name was Maria. She said yes and then he gave her a rose. WOW!!! oh yeah...he son passed away about a year ago. my dad would play golf with his dad. they played more and even better after his passing. then there was this hole-in-one contest. the boy's dad was up to golf. right before he swung, a HUGE beautiful butterfly landed on his shoulder and wouldn't leave. he swung and made the hole-in-one. then the butterfly left. please tell me what you think of my two stories. i have more but ill tell you later.

I always find that people give supernatural properties to things that could easily be attributed to coincidence, luck, or something else. While I understand that you may believe these stories, there is definitely a logical explanation for all supernatural events.

Let’s use your Godmother as our 1st example:
*Hears angelic voice telling her to stay so she can get a rose, does, and gets a rose.*
Old age can play tricks on people. Memory is also a fickle thing in all ages. She may have in fact overheard someone telling another person about the rose. Someone may have actually told her as well, and she forgot. Someone may have told her, but she didn’t realize what he or she had said until later. Someone may have actually said it behind her to make sure she didn’t leave, but then went back to their conversation or left.

These are all very probably scenarios. However, you chose to believe that God sent an Angel, which he does have a limited number of, down to your God mother just so that the preacher would give her a rose. You have chosen not to believe many other likely and plausible scenarios in order to believe a supernatural one. Why did you do this?

The same is true of the golf story as well.

People often will say that the improbable is proof of miracles. However, if you talk to a poker player they will tell you that the improbable happens. People have a 2% chance of catching a card, and it happens. The improbable is still probably.

Take one moment to think about a typical Christian and her "answered prayers." For example, there is a Christian housewife in Pasadena who firmly believes that God answered her prayer this morning to remove the mustard stain from her favorite blouse. She prayed to God to help remove the stain, and after she washed it the stain was gone. Praise Jesus!

There are tens of millions of true believers in the United States who know that God is personally helping them each day with their trivial prayers. They believe that they have a personal relationship with God, that God hears their prayers each day, and that God has time to reach down and remove the mustard molecules one by one. They believe it with all of their hearts.

It makes you wonder: If God has the time and the will to answer these trivial prayers, manipulating the mustard molecules in response to a housewife's prayer, then what the heck is God doing ignoring the billions of people on this planet who are living in stark, abject poverty? It is when you think about this simple question that you realize how imaginary God is and how delusional and completely self-centered Christians can be.

If God is removing the stain, then why doesn't our housewife pray for poverty to disappear? Why doesn't she watch tomorrow as the world magically transforms itself into a poverty-free utopia, in the same way that her blouse became mustard-free? Answer: because God is imaginary.

“The simplest explanation is usually the best.” Occam's razor.

I think that's pretty cool. Yeah people make fun of stuff they don't understand. Thing is, they don't have to understand. This stuff happened and they can believe it or not. Opinion. I think that it's AWESOME the way God moves!

yes i believe you to and have had experiences and heard of them from fellow christians ... these things can be a wonderful part of our lives and give praise to God when praise is due ... but be careful not to base your faith on recieving a sign.
