If she eats constantly but keeps getting skinnier, and has really horrible smelling diarrhea she may have thyroid problems. This can happen in older cats through no fault of yours! I have a 20 year old cat with same symptoms, it's gross, but I just keep alot of clean up supplies and catmeds on hand. With treatment your kitty could live a long time. Check with nearby vets clinics, rescue leagues or even some large pet supply chains. Some offer discounts for low income folks and senior citizens, for example. Her teeth may need to be checked. The flat faced breeds need dry food only or serious dental problems can happen. (All my cats are rescued and the alleycats are usually healthier than the breeds..). Call all around and ask about low cost vaccinations, spay/neuter, etc.

PS: Don't let some people's manner of answering make you feel badly. Lots of people think it's ok to look down their nose on someone just for asking a question. They are misguided. Others believe money means everything and try to insinuate that if you aren't well off financially then you should not even have an animal. They are incorrect, as well as heartless. At least you are TRYING to find answers! And there are NO stupid questions. Only stupid answers.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your cat. It does not sound good at all. Have there been any changes in the cats life lately? My friend just moved to a new location and her cat had the same problem. It passed away. Most people who have cats don't like to hear this but a cats litter box should be changed everyday. Wow! I know that can be an expensive. If the cats back end looks more skinny like its sinking in? That could be a string of many things. I feel for you because of money problems. If you know a friend that can help and can trust you to pay them back? And if you are on a fixed income there are vets that will look at your cat. Try calling all the vets in your directory. I'm sure you will find a one that can help you. To be honest? it would cost less to put down the cat then to go through all the testing. Also cats will doo doo around if they are been watched. There litter box should be in a hidden place and they should not be disturbed when using it.

Your cat needs medical treatment prescribed by a veterinary. I'm sorry but I cannot see any other alternative. Because, I imagine that you have ruled out a dirty litter box or any major changes in the cat's environment? Eight years old is not old for a cat, she has many good years ahead of her if you look after her properly.

If you can't afford to care for an animal you shouldn't have an animal. The correct answer is to bring it to a vet. We are not vets. Even if any of us were, we couldn't write you a script over the new. I suggest you give up your pet for adoption.

I'm sorry but it sounds like your cat is sick, probably from old age. You're gonna have to find some way to get some money to take her to the vet or she might die. It costs money to put them to sleep too, which is probably what they'll reccommend.
