Near EMERYVILLE?! No. Unless you can afford to live in the Oakland Hills. Which you probly can't. Go east a ways toward Concord or Martinez. Much safer, costs a little bit less, but still expensive. If you must stay in California, try the middle of the state for safe and cheap. Somewhere in Bakersfield or Fresno. But I'd just get out of Cali (and I did).

No there isn't! lol I was born and raised in Calif. and would never go back! It's crazy there! Very expensive, and too many people! If you want a good place to raise a family I would suggest the mountains somewhere in a little mountain town.
I guess it just depends on what you're looking for. If you live in a real populated area, crowded places won't bother you, but I found it difficult to raise my daughter in Calif. or in any big city. I didn't want her to deal with it all I guess, and I moved her out to the country. Everything was smaller, churches, schools, towns, people knew us at the store, I loved it.

I think you will just get into more debt if you move here!! Houses are outrages, especially if you want to move to the bay! I would rather move to the hills... El Dorado or somewhere higher... Lincoln is building a ton of new housees too, or Rocklin is really nice!

But anywhere you go it seems traffic SUCKS!

Nowhere. California has a VERY high cost of living.
