My cat is about 3 years old. Lately one of her ears have been really bugging her. She has it down unlike the other one, and she scratches, and shakes her head a lot. I don't think it's earmites because she doesn't act like its painful. What could it be???

I have taken her to the vet. She has had them flushed, she has been given a shot, and cleaned by the vet, and also earmite drops.

clean them with a qtip and hydrogen peroxide if you get alot of black/brown stuff it is earmites hopefully its not and a cleaning is all she needs if brownish black stuff does come out then you need to get the earmites medicine ....possibly she got some water in it?

Earmites, ear infection, wax build up, moisture inside, foreign object, insect bite.
See your vet soon. If she's holding her ear down and shaking, its because it is bothering her and most likely painful.

Our cat had the same problem it was not ear mites after all but he was allergic to his dry cat food, we used to feed him Purina chef's blend and now that we have switched to Royal Canin dry cat food it has cleared up completely. I made the mistake of giving him Purina chef's blend once months later and he was scratching his ear and head until it was red raw and bleeding so we cleaned out his bowl, went back to Royal Canin and he is fine again. Hope that this helps. It is more expensive but it really does work if your cat has allergies which it sounds like she does. Good luck to the both of you.
