the RRS is largely based on the LR3 platform which has been in mass production for several years now. you may be confusing the quality issues with the full sized Range Rover wherein the 2003-2004 model were quite problematic. however, that was the first year for that vehicle. while 06 is the first year for the RRS, the engine is the same Jaguar engine that's been in production for 6+ year i think.

also, $65k sounds fully loaded HSE with every single option. regardless, it was worth it enough for me. i've had it for 4 mos/10k miles and i'm worry free.

LR did cite the quality issues were due to software updates. not sure if it's the only issue

Seems to me you answered your own question. I would look elsewhere, like the Lexus GX470 in the same class.
