I am in the beginning stages of delving into the Wiccan religion. I have read a couple of books, but I would like to get advice on how to become more involved. Where did you begin?

www.witchvcox.com can let you know of other individuals, groups and events in your area. Try as many contacts as you need to get a feel for what is comfortable to you. There is no hard and fast "right" or "wrong" rule. Some people prefer to be solitary, others like the group experience. Improvisation is fine, no deity will fault you for not having the "correct" tools or the "wrong color" of candle. I have found that getting a basis in elemental and color associations (read up on chakras) can give you a good ability to "wing it" when it comes to making your own magic. I worked for years in a metaphysical store and made candles with color, scent, and stone associations but I constantly learned from the people that came in. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Like I always told folks, if God/Goddess/Deity was going to strike you dead for making a mistake, we'd all be experiencing one big lightning storm. I rather think that they're watching us saying, "Oh, isn't that cute! She's trying to pronounce my name!" Have fun with your path. It's all around us.

Well that is dependent. Do you imply a Wiccan or a Witch? The 2 are one-of-a-kind matters. A Wiccan can not be a Christian whilst. You can not serve 2 faiths and be trustworthy whilst to each. It does not paintings. You CAN nevertheless be a Witch and a Christian, as Witchcraft does no longer contain the perception in any deities, as a result you'll be of any faith, and nonetheless train Witchcraft. Although I could watch as Christianity forbids the train of Witchcraft, so if you're real trustworthy on your ideals as a Christian, then quite often you would not have any curiosity in Witchcraft.

I've been into Wicca for over 3 years! I heard things about it and I wanted to find out more. Over a period of a year, I bought over 10 books and read them all. I say the first thing to do is research. Learn as much as you can. I also agree with the WitchVox thing. That website is very helpful. After you have done tons of research then it's time to start. Only if you feel ready. The books you read should indicate how to dedicate yourself to the craft. Hopefully I helped!

I'm a hereditary witch (there are generations of witches in my family) but if you really want to know the base nature of Wicca try reading the book "THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO WICCA AND WITCHCRAFT." I hope this helps out. Blessed Be

I agree that Witchvox is great. When you go to the site, drag your mouse over where it says "World" just under the header. It will give you a lot of local information.
http://www.witchvox.com/

Other ways to find folks in your area are meetups. Just look for one in your area.
http://witches.meetup.com/
Besides witches meet up, there are other types of meetups listed on the lower right of the page.

Local metaphysical shops are also a good way to meet others. In my area they are listed in the phone book under "bookstores".

A favorite yahoo group of mine where the folks are very knowledgeable and friendly:

You could also go to Yahoo groups and type the keywords "Wicca" and your state or the area that you live in to see if there are any local yahoo groups. For example, Wicca Ohio. My area has about 7 local yahoo groups. Your area might have a few too.

Not knowing what books you have already read, this is difficult to answer. However, I would suggest you read the history of Witchcraft and not a Llewelyn publication (which pumps out books that generally repeat themselves while using different god names). I suggest "Geography of Witchcraft":
http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?qwork=2565832&matches=58&qsort=r

And then two reputable works on the subject, "Lid off the Cauldron":

"Natural Magic":

Otherwise, I am not a wiccan but a seidhwoman, and began with my parents and grandparents.

Many Wiccans set aside daily time for meditation. Make sure you acknowledge the Sabats and Esebats, If you want to attend a coven. Look on Witchvox.com. They have a pretty good database of covens and egroups. Good luck.

Some good information on Wicca and also you can go to http://www.witchvox.com to see if there are any Wiccans or groups where you are. Keep in mind though (and this is assuming you're a minor...sorry if I'm mistaken, I mean no offense) that a lot of groups and teachers won't touch teens with a ten-foot pool unless you have parental permission (again, assuming you're a minor...apologies if you are not).
