I have a staffordshire bull terrier cross rottweiler?

he's nice to everyone i want him to be guard dog.when some one is knoucking at the door he gets all happy i kind a want him to be mean

is he going to turn out to be mean? he's 3months

i said i kinda want him to be mean i didnt say i was making him mean

Take this from someone who knows. My Dual registered Amstaff is mean looking. everyone sees him and takes a second look. He is the most loving friendliest dog ever. He serves his purpose. No one is going to come in my yard or try to take my kids even though if they really wanted to he might just lick them.sad I know. He is neutered so he is not valuable to anyone who might want to steal him, once they see this on him he is useless to them. do not try to make him or even want him mean. He will be when he needs to be and his looks alone will most likely deter enough people.

Why would you want that?

You want your dog to be assertive not aggressive. This means that if your dog judges you are IN DANGER, he will act to scare off the threat. Most dogs will have good judgement about that. If your grandmother comes over to visit, or the neighbor's three year old, you DO NOT want the dog to be mean.You are crazy if that's what you want. You are asking for a lawsuit. Besides that is not a guard dog but a vicious dog.

If however you really have a need or desire for a protection trained dog, there are classes you can take to teach your dog a sport called Schutzhund. This involves three types of skills, tracking, obedience and protection. It is a lot of intensive training and pratice but will result in an elite protection dog that should be completely trustworthy.

But if all you are interested in is the attack training, then you have no business with a dog. Please find a home for your dog now while he is still sweet.

Why would you want a mean dog? It's people who act like this who attribute to the bad reputations of these dogs. You have a well trained dog obviously if he's happy when people come to the door and is nice to you. Why would you change that?

If he is neutered he will not turn mean. If he is not he will become a very agressive dog, even to you. It is also a bad idea to not neuter your dog because there are already too many unplanned puppy births.

Maybe you should give him to an owner who will love him instead of force him to be mean?

You would be surprised. If someone tried to break in or do harm to you or your house, he would probably automatically become the guard dog you want him to be. There are actually ways to train a dog to be a guard dog, but you really wouldn't want him to be that way to someone who just comes knocking on the door. Your dog could end up being taken away and put to sleep and you could be fined if anything bad happened.

Any dog will "guard" its home from strangers as an adult. This doesn't mean he has to be a "mean dog". For god sake my 3 pound Yorkie who loves everyone will bark when someone comes to the door because she "guards" the house.
How can you expect a 3 month old puppy to be mean to anything!

He is just a baby. Wait until his hormones kick in. And really why would you want a mean dog? Its better to have a dog that looks threatening but is really good natured.

I agree with the first poster. You have a dog with a great, loving personality. You are very lucky, so accept him! If someone was threatening you he would def. protect you!

Oh god he is just baby. Make him mean and he attacks someone and YOU GO TO JAIL.
