If you had a chance to speak (over a period of time, or a moment) to someone to change them from not believing to believing what would you say or read to them. A certain scripture or phrase. Something to make them know the bible is true. That Jesus is real and is alive.

I would probably say something good like John 3:16 or something along those lines.

Wait, I'm confused. You ask "How would YOU help someone to know/believe/or be saved the Truth?" But then you start talking about making them believe in christianity? So which is it, the truth or chistianity? This question doesn't make sense.

Edit: "Make" them believe, lol. You actually said "make" them believe. It would be funny if it didn't sicken me.

Witnessing is a part of my church's weekly activitiy. It is our job and the commandment of the Lord to "go ye into all the world..." however, we all do this differently. When I meet new people, I usually listen to their conversation. You can tell (most of the time) people who are saved or already know the Lord. The Holy Spirit will provide you an unction to know. Remember that you can talk to everybody in the world, but it is the Lord who 'draws all men unto himself". Some people are not ready and all you can do is 'plant the seed - someone else may come by and water, etc.) Everybody is not going to accept what you say - just because you said it. There are many people who have studied the "Bible" and know it back and forwards and can out talk you and you'd feel lost among them. That's not what God wants us to do. We are asked to 'show love' first of all. You might be in a position where someone might need a hand. You offer it and then a conversation takes place. Ask that person - if you were to die tonight - do you know where you'd go? I've heard - "int he ground", "to heaven", " I dont' know", "I don't care, I'll be dead" - everything - that's my lead in. In conversation you hear what people talk about and know they are hurting and you can actually be the one to guide them to salvation just with scripture. You have to help them understand that all men have sinned and no amount of "good work" that people do will save them. They are only good works. But they are not connected to anything - or anybody. The good works come as a result of believing that God wanted man to be re-connected to him after man sinned in the garden. He had so much love and forgiveness that he already had a plan in place for our salvation. All it takes is faith, the size of a mustard seed to believe it. In Romans, we are asked to confess (the Lord) with our mouth, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, and we are saved" That's a hard one - because people want to try and use their own "minds" to rationalize how this could be. How is a man who is dead - suddenly alive - but that's just how simple being saved is. We didn't have to work for it - Jesus did all the work. He lived sinless - and he commited himself and his blood and God allowed him to die - Jesus gave his life - the Jews didn't take it. It was all part of the plan of salvation. Believing is all we are asked to do - and then go and tell somebody else - and treat each other the way Jesus treated us - not the way your friend might - the only perfect mirror to judge by - is Jesus. Jesus would forgive, as he did many times and places (examples) in the Word. He always gave people a chance and told them to go and not do the thing anymore. And yet, even if it is done - he is willing to forgive when we ask. What wonderful God we serve. I hope you have been helped by something I have said.

I wouldnt use the Bible right away probably, if they know Im a Christian they know I believe the Bible. Non believers dont believe the Bible so it most likely wont help at first though later, when they know you arent a wacko, you can share scripture and they may say "I never knew it said that" and then find the Bible a bit more interesting. I usually like to find out first why they do not believe and start there. If they dont believe because there is so much trouble in the world, you can explain why... if they dont believe because they think science proved God isnt real, start there.... it depends more on why the nonbeliever doesnt believe than why I do. I can share why I do later on.

Man: don't you understand that if you're an atheist, nothing which comes from the Bible can make you believe that this book comes from God. I mean, it's just not logical to try to prove the existence of Jesus (that I don't deny - he did exist) and his link to God by quoting from the very same book which talks about that man.

You'll only be able to convince those who are a bit dumb, who don't have any logic, or who are completely lost and would believe in anything. Therefore, you can pick whatever quote you want, he'll probably believe you if he is in need and you seem friendly.

As for me, if you start preaching to me, I'll just walk past you. If I'm in a good mood or an ok mood, I won't say anything; but if I'm in a bad mood, I'll just tell you to SHUT UP. Could you just LET PEOPLE LIVE IN PEACE, for Christ's sake!!!

I could only tell them what i know, from my own experience. The most pleasurable thing to me is feeling the peace. Very few have peace. His word is true draw near to me and I will draw near to you. Knock and the door will be open. You must die, you must be born again, He will give you the desires of your heart. You will be tested. Tell Him good-morning and worship Him with your work, talk to Him, worship Him, throughout the day. You will have peace unspeakable. Words cannot describe the beauty of the peace, you have when walking with God. Oooh if you worship The Son, you worship The Father. God is good.

John 3:16 is good. I would also explain what Christ has done in my life and such, so they can understand the intimate part of it and not think of it so much as "religion."
God bless

Only Jesus can prove himself to me. Not you or any other schizo INSISTING that he is real when NO ONE has seen or heard from him in at least 2000 years IF EVER.
When he starts making appearances again, sign me up.
