I know the best to do would obviously be to call the vet, but I live a little away from the nearest town, my phone at home is not working and no cell phone available. Should I try to reach the vet somehow?

Its doubtful a vet would be able to do much with a newborn puppy unless there is something obvious that is wrong with it. Did the puppy have a difficult birth?

Make sure you are keeping it warm and see if you can get it to nurse. If you can't, I would be getting some mamalac and a bottle and feeding the puppy myself.

Vet. Puppies are extremely difficult and delicate especially as newborns, but sometimes they'll make an amazing recovery. But you have to be quick to fix the problem.

Yes, get to a phone and call your Vet. Puppies can go downhill very fast.
