it's a small substation serving around 50 houses, but 50 metres from our new house...worries re. cancer even though no clear link

"The safe distance from the substation is between 20m and 25m. This is the distance between a transmission line rentice (tower) from the fences I hope this helps you out?

I think you have answered your own question in a way - there is no clear link. Consequently, there is no clear answer either. Personally, I think there is no danger - I know lots of people who work as linesmen for the local electricity company's maintenance division, and I have never know any of them (or their colleagues) to suffer ill health as a result. I would suspect if there was any al danger, it would be the people in the front line that would suffer first.
For the record, there is a substation no more than 100 metres from my house, and it made no affect at all on our decision to purchase the place.

50 metres is a long way but the risk of setting up a strong magentic force field is very real with other electricty outputs may in fact upset the brain in humans and pets. Cancer I would rule out but fainting fits or feeling dizzy I would not.

it all depends who you choose to believe, I'm only an electrician, but in my humble opinion there is more danger from your microwave or mobile phone than a substation.
its all down to electromagnetic fields, even your pc/lappie(even worse as the name suggests) is probably giving you more from its screen.
its only my opinion mind, im not an expert
