Your decision to 'quit' your job should be based on several things. 1) Why do you want to quit? Do you have something new and different that you have been called to do/serve? Have you prayed about the direction/will God has for you? Or are you willing to give this position up - because you are teased and insulted? I encourage you to be strong in the Lord and in the power of 'His' might. Your position at church is very different from what you do in the world - in church - you are bringing a ministry of service that you have been endowed to do. You are in a position whereby other young people are watching you and possibly desiring to follow - you are a leader. If you enjoy and have joy about what you do, even more that you should not be quitting that position. You are in a position where God can 'grow you' and you might have ideas to even better the things you do, and help the people in the ministry. You may even have a 'book' in you to write - to help others who are "control men" in their churches - who might even feel the same way. We, as church leaders must learn the difference between what we do at the church and what we do in the world. For ten years, I worked for a company, the first African American female - and only one for years! Imagine my position 'in the world'. I worked for 10 years - dressed appropriately, did my job, was kind and loving and trained others. Know what my training led to - being 'let go'. I trained a very young caucasian lady of 24. No sooner than I trained her - I went on vacation. Came back. Had no job. BUT, prior to this happening - my pastor had spoke a word of wisdom into my life - admonishing me to 'return to your first love' and I prayed about what that really was - instantly the Holy Spirit reminded me of my teaching skills! I was let go in June. I applied and went through the process of hiring with the board of education in my state - and in August - I was teaching! I had not taught in 10 years! But the Lord worked everything out. I didn't have to worry, I didn't have to fret, I didn't miss a bill or a meal. It was all in His hands - and from that experience I learned that if you listen to him and be guided by what he has to say - you will know what to do. I would not leave without consulting the Lord on the matter - additionally, you should have a close relationship with your pastor - talk to him. He should be able to help you deal with the teasing. Sometimes, you just have to forget what people have to say. You are moving to their beat - but to your own. God has placed you in a position and he will prepare and direct you. Don't let the naysayers 'control' your decisions. Even if they are people in the church who might be doing this - they are still babes drinking milk and have no idea what eating the meat of the word means - we don't do that to our brothers and sisters.

I don't know whether you should quit your job or not, but perhaps you should ponder upon why it is that you give a rat's **** what we think or what the people at work think.

However, I would venture to suggest that if your coworkers are teasing you and insulting you, then you are probably yammering on at work about your church and your religious beliefs and that it annoys them. I'll be that if you stop talking about religon and church at work that your coworkers will mysteriously stop teasing you about being a "control man".

All work has unique importance in the human society . I think you flash good things into the screen the viewer may or may not accept but you are doing your job successfully . You should not be worried in others teasing .

That is your "ministry", and its what you are assigned to do...

Do it with a smile, and thank the LORD that HE gave you the ability to perform the function so that the Congregation can sing and make a "joyful noise unto the LORD"...

If you "brag" at work, then its your fault! You should never brag about anything you do, its called PRIDE! (One of the deadly sins, if you dont remember, eh?)...

Try to steer them to the Bible Verses, and GOD'S love for us, instead of promoting your "importance"....

I wish you well..

Jesse

They are most likely........... just teasing you because they like you. If you really don't think that is the case......... go talk about it to the Pastor.

The "O" Wise One has spoken.
