I have 2 dogs. I have tried I think almost every toy. If it has stuffing, no deal. Its shredded within a day. If its a rope, no deal. The thread are all over within hours. If it has rubber, no deal. It torn into bits and peices. Has anyone found a good chewtastic tough toy? And what price range? Some of those toys can be crazy expensive, but I guess its better than the couch or personal belongings!

Cant be rubber, wont last. And we dont want them associating personal items such as an old show with their toys because then they will think that ALL shoes are game. I need something distincually theirs.

I have a two year old Aussie with similar "talents" at destroying ANYTHING that you give him to play. Kong toys have nothing on my dog.

Okay, my dog's toys are separated into two categories:

1. ones that I have to supervise the entire time while he's playing
2. ones I can leave the dog alone with

For the first category, such as squeekies and tennis balls, I make sure that it's a TREAT when he get's to play with them. I watch him the whole time and stop him when starts to destroy it. Often, I take away the toy as a negative reinforcement.

For the second category I've found that Nylabones, especially the Galileo Bone especially strong http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?familyid=2566 You have to remember that your dogs WILL destroy it eventually. Chalk it up the cost of the bones as part of your dog budget :) The good thing is, it keeps my dog occupied and doesn't wear out in ONE SITTING :)

My dog also love his Jolly Teaser ball. http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?R=6043&Nav=1&N=0&Ntt=jolly+ball&sku=770140&familyID=7951& It's hard hollow plastic w/ another ball inside. It's fun, sturdy, and if you get the right size, your dog CAN'T destroy it. It's just too big and weird for him to get a good bite out of it.

Kongs are wonderful toys. Most Kongs are red and they are good, but if you have a serious chewer, Kong makes a black rubber toy that is supposed to be indestrctible. If you have never seen a Kong, they come in several shapes but the most common one looks like three progressively smaller balls stuck together. It is hollow inside. Now I've never seen a dog interested in an empty Kong, but man, stuff one and they'll love it forever.

I mix together bits of dog food, small but tasty treats like canine carryouts or dried liver bits, cheese, etc. Mix this with canned dog food. Pack it into the Kong and freeze it overnight. This is what I call a "Pupsicle".

Administer one Pupsicle before you go to work and your dog will spend all day trying to get at the frozen treats. When you get home he'll be TIRED. And a tired dog is a good dog.

I have had a similar problem with my dog. Her jaws are so strong, she destroys most chew toys within minutes. I have found only one chew toy that she cant seem to destroy:

Nylabone - DURABLE... That brand makes a lot of different bones. You have to make sure you get the durable - not the edible kind. The durable one is still flavored so it keeps her chewing on it but at best she only gets teeny tiny bits of it off that are no bigger than a grain of rice which pass right through her system. The big ones should cost no more than 10 bucks. Best and longest lasting chew toy she ever got...

Busy Buddy Toys are the absolute best. They are guaranteed to be indestructible, and dogs love them. They are similar to a Kong, but come in different shapes and have different "features." They are a little more money than a lot of toys, but they last and I definately think they are worth it. You should check them out. They're available at PetSmart (among other places) or you could check out the website: www.busybuddytoys.com.

the most sturdy toy for dogs I actually have considered is a small tire with the thick rope tied to it. large tug of warfare ingredient. were given it at a puppy save , value some yet under no circumstances were given torn up.

I agree with using the durable nylabones. My dog loves to chew on them and brings them to me to play with too.

Also, a cheap toy that you can get over and over again would be a 2 liter pop bottle (take off the plastic type paper first). If your dog destroys it, who cares as long as he doesn't swallow it? If those are too easy, try the small gatorade bottles.

I had the same problem until I tried a red Kong. My dog has had it for a couple of years -- loves to fetch it and chew it, and carries it with him all day and sleeps with it at night. The black Kongs are even tougher than the red ones.

I second the Kong toys, especially the black ones since they're the same price at http://amzn.to/1oHut1v Slap some peanut butter in and watch your dog suddenly take a whole new interest in it.

We discovered (quite by accident) that our dogs favorite toy and favorite game is playing tug-o-war with an old sock. He gets a great workout and so do we. Old crew socks are a big part of his everyday life.
