the Pharoah says something along the lines of 'Your God is more powerful than our God(s)'
Why didn't Abram/Abraham or God say anything about 'God' being the only one? Isn't it of utmost importance to Him? Don't the first four of the Ten Commandments deal with worshipping/believing in other God's?

The chapter is Genesis, verses are 12: 18-20; God is supposed to be omniscient which would mean it would be irrelevant if the Ten Commandments had already been written; since God had already spoken to Abraham in dreams, it is not a stretch of the imagination that he would have told him not to lie to anyone-that He (God) would protect him...in case there's an argument that Abraham could still be worried, after the pharoah incident, he repeats the exact same lie (and so does Sarah) to a king

While the First Commandment does indeed claim there is only one God, the Bible is replete with references to OTHER gods.

Baffling, huh?

Maybe......maybe it's ALL nonsense?

There WERE NO 10 Commandments at this time and wouldn't be until Moses at least 400 years or so later!

For one thing, Abram was afraid and NOT TRYING TO MAKE A POINT HERE! He was merely trying to get his sister/wife Sara and get out ALIVE. When Pharoah found out that he had taken a "married woman" he was mortified and returned her to her husband, Abram. Nothing sexual had happened between Pharoah and Sara(h) so that her marriage between her and Abram was "spoiled." So, Abram took his wife and left, just glad to be alive.

There was NO REASON TO PUSH God on Pharoah at this time and God did NOT ask Abram too!!! God DID SEND MOSES TOO, IN FACT, HE COMMANDED MOSES TO!

So, that's the big difference, here God is merely wanting Abram to take Sara and start a new Nation, that is "get out alive" to begin HIS work. The REST would come later!

Abram didn't have to abide by the 10 Commandments because Jehovah hadn't given the Israelites the Commandments yet.

I think that was what the plagues were all about. You know, actions speak louder than words.

So, he killed all the food, all the livestock, the first born of every house, polluted the water, etc etc, after he made Pharaoh harden his heart. He was in total control, and still had a temper fit and ruined all those lives who had nothing in his pissy little tirade.

My hero. Yikes.

The Pharaoh, said it for them "your God," that is singular and the ole king certainly knew the difference in the Jewish God and his many gods. Little did he know that the One God would destroy the many gods.

tarotpete... the plagues came in moses' time not in abrahams! the pharoah divided his gods and our god, knowing that he is more powerful and great. although i don't know why they didn't start worshipping him.
