There can be a lot of reasons for no spark. I expect you'll find it's the TFI (thick film ignition module) on this car. If you are unsure how to check it, your sis should tell her friend that he needs to have it properly diagnosed. If you know how to check the TFI, then you should have this problem sorted out in short order. Proper repairs are always less costly than guess-work. Good luck.

The most common cause of no spark on fords (at least in my experience) is the ignition module. it is usually mounted to the side of the distributor with 2 screws. be sure to use the thermal paste that comes with a new one or it won't last long.

Well, it can be of a few things at least. 1, is the ignition module is shorted. 2, May be the crank or cam position sensors. 3, can be the coil packs themselves. Hope these can get you going in the right direction.

I am a mechanic!! i would say the problem is your ignition module, but take off the distributor cap, have some one crank over the engine to make sure that the the ignition rotor spins around.if it does not spin it is your timing chain,if it does spin it should be your module.

Crank no start, no fire. Fire at the coil? Fire at the plug wires? No. Then check for power at the coil. Make sure the dist. is turning, take the cap off, see if the rotor turns. Check it then e-mail me and I'll tell you what else to do.
