I have had one cat for 15 years and every time I get a different pet she gets jealous. I can't stop it either but I try to give her more attention when she is being good. The newest cat is only a year old. And the two fight also. I just declawed them both so they can't hurt each other too badly.

I have nine cats so I know exactly what you mean, except that every time a new kitty has come into the house I've needed to protect it from lots of other "predators". When a new pet comes into the house I rub it against myself to impregnate it with my smell and then I introduce it to the older pets starting with least aggressive pet working up to the most dominant. I supervise their together time and keep the kitten with me at all times. I give them special treats in bowls side by side, so the older cats associate the new kitten with something pleasant. I cuddle the older cats while keeping the kitten right beside me, until they start to accept it as part of the furniture, so to speak. During the first few days I provide a separate sleeping area for the kitten to make sure it's safe. Usually the kitten itself hides or seeks the other cats, they have a good sense of when they are accepted by the other residents. I find that my cats have a great time chasing each other and romping around together. Some are best buddies and that's probably what will eventually happen with your own cats.

cats can be very, very terratorial, especially the males.
What I did when bringing a new kitten into the house was to put the kitten into a cat carrier. That way, the cats can sniff each other, and get used to each other, but not get at each other to fight.
I would let the kitten out, but only under close supervision as well. If the older cat tried to fight, it got reprimanded.
Keeping the new cat in a carrier (and possibly giving it a room of it's own for the first week or so) will help ease the transition. Cats do fight, but it shouldn't be as much.

keep them separate for a while. either place the kitten in another room so that the cats can get to know each other through smell under the door or put kitten in a pen with food drink and litter and bed and have in same room as other cat. leave them like this for a day then slowly introduce the to each other without the pen. they will soon become friends. dont give up yet

You need to monitor their interactions. Things will calm down soon. The little male is just being something of a bully right now. Kittens quickly come to the conclusion that it is much more fun to play than fight.
If the little girl is terribly frightened she needs some protection and reassurance. She will probably come to adore her big brother. I hope she has the confidence to beat up on him a little.
Course with my big brother I had to scream and cry so my parents would intervene. My brother was my soulmate and he always protected me.

the male who is the dominant one probably won't stop. they will have to be separated or you may have to part with the kitten. i know its hard, but you'd feel much better giving it a good home, (nothtat yours isn't other than the male kitty), than if your male kitty killed the kitten. Try having the male neutered, if he isn't already. And make sure that the female kitten is spayed befor she ever goes into heat...

Well what you should do is keep your older cat away from your new one and if that doesn't work than try teaching your older cat to like your other one once he realizes that your new one is staying he should get used to him.
Good luck!

I went though the same thing, now what you should do is at night let your kitten sleep in your bed until it gets older, and try not to take your eyes off it

hey hun....this happened with me when i had to bring one of my cats in that had a wilder temperament....she wasn't used to bein' in the house and wasn't any were near ready to get along with the ones all ready in the house so i found the best way for them to get to know each other AND to gt used to the routine of the house was to put her in a pet taxi so she could see the rest of the house hold and still feel safe....so just put your new baby in a pet taxi so your first cat doesn't feel like newbie there is gettin' run of the house and he can still check her out without hurting her and they will eventually get used to each other...it just takes time...love daisy
