$6000 sounds kinda pricey....I think most braces run around $4500...I'd get a second opinion.

Where I work it averages to be about 4200 and that's in Texas. I would check with a couple of orthodontists and see what they tell you as far as price goes. And I wouldn't let a General Dentist put braces on you because they really aren't as qualified as an orthodontist is. I think rather than the extra years of school the orthodontists put in, some dentists go get certified to put braces on. Not quite the same as having a degree. The cost of braces depends on your treatment plan, but I would check around if I were you.

He's hosing you like a lawyer. Dentists are getting sleazier all the time. Get more quotes, but it does depend on how much yankin and what not is needed.
Also depends on number of years you'll wear 'em. I got mine later in life, and they were a bargin at just over $2K. (They hurt all to be d*mned...I wonder if that was a payback for the way I ground the guy...hmmm?
Work the dentists. They make tons on braces. The cost is mostly labor.

well, that depends. Do you want to have crappy teeth for the rest of your life? They make braces that you can hardly see. and even if they CAN be seen, I'd rather have funky looking teeth for a few years and beautiful teeth forever after, than bad teeth forever.
Dude, your mouth, your money, your call. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

I know a 38 year old guy that got them. I guess it depends on if you think having straight teeth is worth it. I think if you are a public speaker, it would be a good idea, or in customer service. Other than that, I wouldn't do it.

I'm an hour south of Philly and the orthodontists around here wish they could get $6,000. It seems like $4,500 is more or less the going fee in my area.

Y E S. Braces not only cosmetically fix your teeth, they banish the headaches associated with misaligned teeth (which are horrible). Do not use Invisiline b/c it sucks.

Well if you need em you need em. Some girls find braces hot. Maybe your girlfriend does too. Hopefully you wont have to have em too long.
