me and my b/f have been together for 7yrs we've been living together for 2yrs now. well he wants to get married but i told him that i dont want to so he's ok with that now. why get married its just a tittle everything will be the same. i mean you spend a lot of money on a wedding/honeymoon and if it doesnt work out you have to spend money on a lawyer and your fighting for money. i think its easier to just be together and when its over just pack up and leave. am i wrong for thinking this.

you're right.. marriage is just a title.. if something isn't broken, don't try and fix it.. if its working for you the way it is, keep it that way. in most states you'll be considered married anyway by common law after a few years of living together as a couple. if he's insistent on getting married find out his reasons for it... maybe he wants that title and if its more about the title than the actual ceremony just go down to the courthouse and have it done in front of the justice of the peace.. its informal and inexpensive and you'll have the marriage certificate to uphold the title.

well I'm not going to say your in the wrong cause I have no right to judge. for me though I consider a marriage more then a title. it's more of a commitment and contract that no matter what happens I will be there for you, that I will do all in my power to show you your worth and how much I love you. it's a event that differs from the rest of your life, meaning that it is different becuase it is real and you should hold it as a treasure. You don't have to fight over money and what not, if you do have that comittment and love, if it's true love you will also do everything in your power to hold to that commitment which can bring you everlasting happiness.

I just recently got married and after the upscale wedding that I had which was the wedding of my dreams....I woke up and I loved my newly husband more. I will tell you it comes from the heart. You must experience the whole "vow" thing to understand. I love being married and I would never want to be single again!

If you don't feel ready to get married, there's nothing wrong with that. Still, a good marriage won't end because both partners are compatible. Sooo, if he's the right guy, getting married wouldn't be a problem, now would it?

Very true! Besides if you do get married it may not last. That has happened a lot to friends of mine. They lived together for years and when they tied the knot it wouldn't even last 5 months. So your smart! you go girl!

No it is healthy to think that way. Marriage isn't something to rush into like so many have done. When you do get married it will be for the right reasons and not for being insecure or wanting to because your freinds did or any other reason so many couples do it.

Marriage is a part of my religion and culture so thats why I believe in getting married. But I dont plan on getting married till I am in my 30s!

You are so lucky, you got a guy to say he wants to get married.
The reason people get married is because it makes things final.
You take his last name, whats his is yours and whats yours is his.
If you have children they are ligit,and it basically makes two people one.
It may not seem special to you because you two basically are married,not in the eyes of the law,but you two live like a married couple it seems.
The advice I've gotten from the women in my family, is to wait until your married to live together.
