I think they are playing God and it will lead to ethical and moral issues. It really already has.

Go for it, it is just cells, no nervous system, no mind, no soul. I mean the embryos they would use are ones that would be thrown out anyway. It is not like you are killing potential babies. You are taking cells that were going to go into the trash and using them for something useful.
Though I do disagree with the curing of most genetic diseases. Since when they cure people they do not change that persons genetics so they pass it on. This means when end up with more people with genetic disease. I also disagree with curing people of pretty much anything other then an injury that will kill them before they can reproduce.
I like research but I don't like saving lives. I think medicine should be used to improve the quality of life not extend the quantity of it. We already have more people then the earth should support. Why do we need to keep increasing that number? I say until the death rate and birth rate are the same we don't need to keep people from dyeing.

There is a saying, in Buddhism I believe, that goes like this: "Humans are given the key to heaven; the same key opens the gates of hell."
This idea applies to pretty much every scientific endeavor: it can both be a great blessing for humanity, or a great curse, depending on how it's used. Consider nuclear energy: one one hand, it will be absolutely essential to our survival in the future, on the other hand, it can be used to destroy the entire planet at a push of a button. There are many more examples like that. Stem-cell research also has great potential for treating diseases, but if used unethically, who knows where it may go.
So the point is -- as long as researchers are diligent, ethical, and honest, we'll benefit from it all.

Why don't you ask the person that is sick and needing cure? I guess you are not going to die so you say no it is not moral for you to live. You must die. I am god and I say you have no right to a cure and you must die.
Who made you god?
It may be the only way to help your child live one day. I have wondered why people seem to think there is something wrong with it. I know if I was going to die and they could take a cell from someone else and grow it in to an antibody of somekind and it would fix me and I would live my life like normal. I want it.

I know it's a touchy subject, but I am for it. Stem cells will save millions of people, as it could cure diseases like Diabietes, and maybe even cancer. It's also believed that it can cure Autism, which my younger brother has. I know it's controversial, but if it safe lives, I think it's in our best interest as a species to continue studying it.

Necessary research. Those embryos are simply going to be trashed. Might as well put them to good use!! How anyone can say anything different is simply ignorant...

my father died of lou gehrig's disease, and one of the only hopes for people like him and others with motor neuron diseases are stem cell research.
