My last girlfriend had her friends ask me out for her. We didn't really do anything, i mean, we saw acouple movies together and talked occasionally. it was really awkward and all of our friends kept trying to make us do stuff but, uh, yeah. eventually she had her friends tell me it was over, which was kind of a relief, but i don't know. I don't think I really need a girlfriend, at this point it's more of a status thing. But I don't want to go through that again and I want to be prepared for next time

Have you not had many girlfriends? If you're shy, it'll be hard. It's time to try and get past that though. Go make girl 'friends'. Hopefully they will progress into more. I know you don't 'need' a girlfriend. You'll be missing out on a lot of things without one though. You'll have to eventually experience what it's like to be in a close intimate relationship. Why not try it now?

Of course you didn't feel right! You both had your friends asking each other out and breaking up with each other. If you really want to date a girl, next time ask her out herself, b/c it will break the first ice. Also, you'll want it. It sounds like you could have cared less if you had a girlfriend or not. Do it for yourself, not a status symbol.

Finding the right person is just too important. And while it might be a "status" thing to you, it might be serious next time to her. Try this book, available at most libraries--

Okay, you sound a little shy ... try being bold!!!!! Don't be afraid to ask a girl out, just do it ... all she can say is yes or no. Take things at your own pace don't let your friends force you and your girlfriend to do things, it's your relationship, not theirs!!!!

try just asking someone to dinner and holding a conversation. the best friendships or marriges come from people who just talked for an hour or two
