How can I obtain prison records from North Kern State Prison? Time served: 1998-2003 Only have name/crime...?

I've searched forever to find public records for a former inmate at north Kern State Prison. With a first/last name, age, crime, and very little else, I am not having any luck. Anyone know how to get the records/info?

go to the court of conviction. Your probably not going to get the personal files from a prison system.
