TO TREAT & PREVENT:
Salicylic Acid 2% lotion each morning
Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% lotion each night
The BEST treatment I have found! You MUST do it EVERY DAY & EVERY NIGHT!!!
EXFOLIATE in the shower with a very fine micro-dermabrasion cream and use 3-4x a week to remove dead skin cells that clog pores. Follow up with Pretty Hands and Feet dead skin slougher.
If you apply these lotions/active ingredients everyday on your ENTIRE face (not just the pimple) you will PREVENT pimples from forming in the first place since it will unclog your pores by sloughing off dead skin cells on a daily basis avoiding a clogged pore which leads to a pimple.
The Clean & Clear purple line is great. All the products have these ingredients.
Use Neutrogena SkinClearing oil-free concealer cover up wand during the day. It treats as well as covers up.... and it REALLY covers up. It treats the pimples while it's on so if you want to be very aggressive in eliminating the pimples, keep putting the concealer treatment on all day and you'll really dry them up!
Use ONLY NON-comedogenic make up, as make up has a tendency to clog pores as well and aggravate acne conditions. Neutrogena, Almay, Mary Kay & Clinque are 4 brands I know of that are certified non-comedogenic.
When time is of the essence:
For individual pimples buy Clean & Clear Overnight Pimple Patch (contains 2% Salicycic Acid) Really does work great overnight! It will flatten the pimple....
Mud mask (never the peel off type, just the rinse off type). I LOVE the dead sea masks, they are anti-bacterial and yet very gentle.
Apply toothpaste (the white pasty kind, not the gel kind) to treat a large pimple.
Stridex Day & Night is a great product for applying these 2 active ingredients. It has each ingredient in a separate bottle, conjoined.
PROACTIV is AWESOME and really works!!
The whole regime should rid your acne, but if money is a problem, try ebay or just purchase the "Repairing Lotion" which contains salicyclic acid. The texture and scent is better than stridex, but stridex will work just as good.
The whole Proactiv line is good because their cleansers, moizturizers all contain the ingredients shown above.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Okay, I can't remember the name of it. But there's this product that there always advertising on tv. All the stars seemed to be using it. Jessica Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, even P Diddy. Well, my neibor's son had really bad acne and she wanted to see if that stuff really worked. So she ordered some. After they got it Richie started using it the next day. Now, this is for real. I went over to their house about a week later and I kid you not, Richie's face was nearly cleared up!! NO JOKE! It wasn't completly clear but it wasn't far either. That stuff is for real. That was a couple of months ago and his face is all clear. He actually turned out to be a cute boy. Sorry, I can't remember the name of it. But just look out for the commercial. Vanessa Williams is the host and you'll see Britney SPears and P Diddy on their talkin' about it. Give it a try!

Try limiting your dairy consumption.
A 2005 Harvard study found a connection:
"Acne Associated with Dairy Intake…
A new Harvard study links dairy products to adolescent acne. A group of 47,000 women from the Nurses’ Health Study was asked to provide information about several aspects of their diet during high school as well as any incidence of physician-diagnosed severe teenage acne.
Researchers noted a positive association with total milk and skim milk consumption, along with instant breakfast drinks, sherbet, cottage cheese, and cream cheese.
No association was found with several other foods often thought to affect acne, including soda, french fries, chocolate candy, and pizza. The scientists postulate that hormones and bioactive ingredients found in milk may be responsible."

Whenever my face starts to feel really oily, I put some sea breeze astrigent on a cotton ball and rub my face really hard, I do this about 2-3 times until no more dirt and oil shows up on the cotton ball, then I take clearasil and oil free acne prevention lotion and mix them together, then I rub it into my face; my face is acne free after 4 days!

Wash your face a lot with a good cleanser like noxema, three or four times a day. Also, touching your face will make it worse, so try not to. And you can use acne cream like clearasil twice a day. That's what I do and it worked pretty well for me.

if its really bad, she can get pills from the doctor for it and it will clear it right up. I used to take little orange and purple pills for it. I cant remember what they were called, but they work really well. Face washes just make me break out worse. They may work for her, but they may not. See a doctor.

Usually, the expectation is prescriptions for Retin-A or Acutane.
First, it is essential to see a dermatologist.
Some health components contribute. For more details see the Mayo Clinic Website.
