I came to that area when i was 17, But i have to say i can't believe how the the younger generations are not disciplined in any way. Most of the parents in that area dom't care that their is nothing for the kids to do but get into violence. No vacations, no supervision, no money, and hell go outside cause its hot in those apartments. Now the father of the little boy was shot yrs ago about 21times, friends thought he would not make it but he did. Now this has happened to his son, it would seem like he would have tried to give this child a better life or at least take him out of that environment. This child had a gun, bee bee gun, water gun, dosent matter if you point at the police especially in that area(cabrini green) police are already frightened of these(black) guys so of course thay would shoot first. These little boys are looking at there fathers (mostly gang bangers) and want to be like them so how can we blame the police because we have no path for our boys to follow.

I think it is justified, How is an officer suppose to protect himself when this boy is pointing a gun ( bb gun or 9mm) whichever. Im sure the officer in question is affected by this. Im sure he didnt want to shoot this kid. But what choice did he have. If someone is pointing a gun at you then you obviously have the right to react. Yes Cabrini Green is an area filled with gangbangers and drug dealers, that statement alone should make any officer be on his guard when they are patroling that area. And Cabrini Green was originally made to help with low income housing, not to be a way of life. Your suppose to live there, get your act together and move on, Not raise generations and gernerations of poverty. Really how many of them people try an better them selves. It's a shame that these kids are growing up in areas that have drugs and gangs, how else are they suppose to grow up if this is the only lifestyle they know. To answer your question about the officer: Yes it is justified. I dont like hearing stories about children getting shot by anybody, but when a cop is put into a violent situation where the officers life is in danger, what is he suppose to do. Im sure he has a family that he'd like to see when his shift is over.

No, I don't think that shooting a child with a toy gun is justified. How could it be? Was the child using the gun to rob a place? Kidnap someone? Rape someone? The police are responsible for their actions when they are afraid as much as when they aren't. The color of ones skin doesn't automatically make them a criminal or a suspicious character.
It might be a tough neighborhood, but there is still no excuse for police violence. Certainly no excuse to kill an innocent child. If they are so terrified by the streets of Cabrini Green, they need to quit their job or request a transfer. Cops like that are cops we don't need walking our streets.

There is no such thing as justified when it comes to anyone getting shot especially a child. It is tragic that so many children grow through this life without a father or a father figure. Living in the projects is hard enough and not to have someone to look out for you and someone who you can turn to for guidess is terrible. Only in a perfect world will we all have perfect lives.

Noticed how you emphasized the BLACK part?....And people (let a lone police) being afraid of other people based on their skin color is a sign of racism and ignorance....
