watch When Harry Met Sally...

i do think they can be friends, but i am much more wary now due to experience.. i told everyone and their mother that my one friend was Just a friend. and they made fun of me but i was so trusting that this guy was just my friend, nothing more. when my current boyfriend started asking me out, i told my friend (they know eachother). at first he joked around, and said "invite me to ur wedding"..but later we talked..and he ended up telling me that he was in LOVE w/ me for the past 2 years! i was mortified... scared..shocked.. extremely shocked. because i trusted this guy as my FRIEND, not as a love interest..and i felt that he was lying to me, pretending to be a friend, instead of actually being a friend.

anyways, i got over it, but i am not ever going to spend that much time with another guy again. and now that i have my boyfriend , i don't need close male friends. acquaintances yes, good friend, NO! :)

Friendship between men and women still exists...but it is rarely the case where both people involved prefer it that way. I believe that when men and women are friends, usually one of them has stronger feelings than the other. Friendship between men and women is more like a consolation prize.

I sure hope so as it would be an awful lonely place if it didn't. Some may think you can't have a simple friendship with a man and woman but I have lots of friends that are women and I would never think of it going any further than that and would not want it to.

Of course. When it comes to platonic friends, I've always had more male friends than female friends. Plus, when you're in a long term committed relationship with someone, the underlying friendship is the most important part. Without that, the rest won't last long.

It can happen but usually there is sexual tension. However you can be friends if you make a vow not to cross the boundaries that are set forth. Sex will screw up a friendship. A man and a woman can be associates but friends would be pushing it. Most male friends either want to have sex with you, have had sex with you, or you want to have sex with. That's just my theory. If I'm wrong, I haven't seen it yet.

It does, but it is difficult to keep it that way, and so in many cases the nature of the relationship changes or the friendship ends.

Women say yes, men say no. I'm good friends with my male co-workers. My husband's best friend is female, but they did go out on one date. I'm good friends with one of my oooold ex's friends, but he was givin me "the look" last time I ran into him at the mall. I say yes, why not! So what men have dirty minds. Look, but don't touch. Sexual tension is a good thing under control!

Yes it does. My best friend, who is a man, and I have been best friends since first grade (22 years). We have never dated or even thought of each other as getting together.
