You'd be surprised. They actually have doggy pads. My dog before she had her first litter was like a blood bag. eww but after pregnancy it stopped. The best place to go is PetSmart if you have one in your area. If not call a really posh dog grooming place and they will tell you where to get the products

Go to a pet store and buy some doggy sanitary supplies. They are like little diapers, and they will help keep her tidy, and keep the blood off your floors and furniture. Just ask a customer service person where they are located, and they can direct you to the proper place in the store. Also, some flushable wipes for people are very handy to keep her clean when you change her. Those are available almost everywhere that sells toilet paper.
Be sure to buy enough that you will have extras left over so you are prepared when her period rolls around again.
If you are not planning on having her bred, I urge you to have her spayed. There are too many unwanted animals in this world as it is. You can usually get it done very inexpensively if you go through your local animal shelter or Humane Society.

I'm sorry, but if you don't know what to use when your dog is in heat, you have no business breeding her. Its a lot more than than just finding a male and letting her get pregnant.
I suggest to do some serious research into responsible breeding maybe have a responsible breeder mentor you , have about $1000 - $1500 set aside for emergency c-section if needed, and have this dog spayed until you have learned all you can.

Go to your local pet store and pick up some doggy diapers. then you only have to change the diapers, instead of cleaning your entire house afterwards. Are you planning on breeding your dog? If not, you might want to get her fixed. Then you won't have any problems. Also, make sure you keep your dog inside when she is in heat. It is amazing what male dogs will do to get to her, and how far away they'll come from...

I'm not aware of any products for female dogs, The only solution is to get her spayed to prevent this - and you should anyway unless you she is a purebred and you're breeding her. There's just too many unwanted puppies already, don't add to the problem.

Everyone:
All female house dogs must be spayed. The danger of bacteria spreading to parts of the house that aren't cleaned on a regular basis is very dangerous, especially if there are children in the house.

Try Foster and Smith Pet supply (on-line) or another pet supply company, for doggy diapers.
I would also use a room with no carpet during her cycles.

well, spay the dog. the blood will probably come out of the carpet(for example) with the urine cleaners for animals. if not, try scrubbing it with soap. and if that doesn't work, just try those carpet cleaners that look like vacuum cleaners. you can rent one at a super market (foodtown, shoprite, etc.) it is called the rug doctor and it is usually by the front of the supermarket

Just don't let her run around the house. I did and my dog rubbed her tush all over my bed and it smelled like dead fish. Just leave her outside, you don't need to cover her up or anything. If she howls, she's probably having doggy cramps in her tummy. Give her plenty of water.

There are "diapers" you can probably get from your vet...I know it's gross, but they usually bleed for 10 days. The pet stores like petco and petsmart might have them too. I'm not sure how much they cost. Hope it helps!
