Native peoples lived in this land for over 7,000 years. Some estimates put this at 15,000 years.

Europeans came about 500 years ago and broke almost every treaty made with the Native nations. Now we complain that Mexicans cross the border. Huh?

To me - every American, except First Nations people, are immigrants.

This question is not an attack. It is a recognition of fact. We are a nation born of immigrants. It's just ironic that so many people don't recognize this, and are openly hostile towards new Americans.

One cannot keep looking into the past. What's done is done, or in the words of Oliver Stone "What's past is prologue." Now that all that history has happened, how can we as a people work together to change the present for a brighter future?

Your statement "To me" sums your argument up very nicely. It is your opinion, and it means nothing to me, or anyone else. I don't care if you THINK I am an immigrant, I was born here, that makes me native by definition. The American Indians immigrated here as well. SO how far back does it have to go before someone is considered a native?

Immigrants are great. Illegal immigrants are NOT. It is a huge difference having to do with whether they have the right to take services like education we pay for, or whether they are stealing them.

And before the Native Americans came there were other remains and before the Spanish went to Mexico there were natives, and all the natives fought eachother,....

And so what?

We built it we own it we pay for the services we make the rules.

Live with it.

I agree. My Russian wife saw how the whites killed the Indians. ( I mean nothing wrong) They should be proud to be called Indian. I would. They were cheated . The press tries to sugar coat everything that is another stink. My wife is Russian and proud of it. She does not care for the title Russian American. Russia has contributed much as all European countries. Look at literature, music, science. art. Can anyone tell me what the 3rd world has given us? Aids, bombers. Give me something.Do we hold Italy at fault for the Roman Empire? NO. Let past things be past. Live today. If we have our noses rubbed in history , this keeps the bad feelings alive. 1939 is past. Russia suffered terribly, no one tells of that.

if we are going back that far let's just say the dinosaurs have ownership , i think 500 years of possesion would give us the right to make some rules
