Get your friends an family involved - it makes it extra special. I bet lots of them have talents.

When I got married my sister made my dress, my gran did creative things with flowers, my nan made the wedding favours, my dad designed the invites, my best friend's mum made the cake, my godfather played chauffeur....

Unfortunately that marriage didn't work out but when i have a andfasting with my current partner next year we have even more friends involved including DJs, catering, decorating, clearing the field we are having the handfasting in, picking up litter etc etc. It's gonig to be great - good luck with yours!

£6000-£8000 is quite a lot, we're spending about 8k and doing everything we want to do.

You have to decide what is the important bit of the day to you both, and plan the whole thing around that, for example our focus is having as many people there for the actual ceremony as possible, we're not that fussed about the reception.

You could do anything you wanted really on that budget, your only limit is that in England you have to get married in a building - weird but true. Friends of mine had a pub quiz and karaoke as their reception, other friends hired a boat and had a party on a nearby canal.

Do whatever makes you happy, just keep remembering that it's your day and don't let anyone else talk the two of you into doing something you don't want to.

I am currently looking to get married, after much research, the best option is to get married abroad - you can have many 'different' weddings in other countries. One that i looked up can even let you get married on safari!!!! And the overall cost would suit your budget - along wiht yourselves and a few guests. Other guests could be invited with the condition that they pay for themselves. You can book a wedding ceremony for as little as £395 - although you would probably want extras. Then all you need is your flights and accomodation money.

It's a wedding and honeymoon rolled into one - one that you will never forget!!!

Good Luck xxx

Hire a park out and have them screen a really romantic film that has some signifigance for you and your husband on the side of a building like they do in the wedding planner and then dance in the park as your reception.Have a themed wedding (any theme you like) and ask only your nearest and dearest to attend.Go to the fair whatever floats your boat and will make the day special for you.

Civil Service and a Bar B Q reception instead of a cake have cup cakes and just have a small family party. The purpose of a wedding is to celebrate your union. You don't have to have this huge massive wedding to show you love eachother. If you want to just grab a pizza after the civil service that would be fine too. Just have fun!

If u live near a beach-have a beach wedding and just serve Hor douvers* instead of a large meal. Also buy a plain dress and embellish it yourself with lace, beads piping etc. You can do the same with ur shoes, but a cheap pair and decorate it like the ur gown.

Check with your County Courthouse regarding a civil ceremony.

Call local VFW halls for your reception. An alternative would be if you know anyone that has a large enough house/yard to hold all of your guests. You could also make the food yourself or ask friends and family members to help (ie: potluck). http://allrecipes.com/

Check out Dreams by Renee. They have some absolutely gorgeous dresses PLUS they can do custom work based on a drawing/picture at extremely reasonable prices. http://dreamsbyreneebridal.com

Are you (or do you know someone willing to help that is) crafty? Check out Michaels for decorations, floral, favors, etc. It will help with your budget if you can do as much as possible yourself. I used to be an Instructor/Event Coordinator for them and we had alot of classes for wedding related items. Plus at this time of year, they are discounting the spring and summer florals to get ready for the fall and winter florals! http://www.michaels.com You can also check out DIY Network for more wedding related crafts http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/cr_wedding/0,2024,DIY_13783,00.html

As for invitations, check out Regency Thermographics. http://aphroditescreations.regency.ac If you go through this link, you can save 20%.

Good luck!

Not sure what kind of budget you mean. Ever consider one at someone's home followed by a good wedding celebration (party with beer and chips) afterwards? Not sure if you meant that kind of budget or more. Sorry if I'm no help.

A beach wedding or a wedding at the park; with a cookout afterward.
