Why is it when you ask a question about illegal immigration do so many people say Mexico is poor and we should help them? First, Mexico is not a poor country. There is plenty of money. It is not, however in the hands of the people. The general population is very poor, however, I fail to see how this is American's fault or responsibility.

Second, why is it that so many people use the current immigration situation as a "carte blanche" to criticize ALL Mexicans even those whose parents came here legaly?

I know that is two questions...sorry..answer both or either. Thanks.

I'm gonna go with you on BOTH those questions, but want to point out one problem with the remark, ALL mexicans, even those whose parents came here legally. If they are here legally, then they are Americans and have to stop hiding behind this "I'm A Mexican and better than you" crap. They are Americans if they where born and raised here. My family immigrated from germany, years ago, and I don't still consider myself to be German, because that would be wrong....I am an American.....and PROUD of it!!

It is a fact that most of the people that illegally come here are here for financial reasons. It is not our fault at all. The problem is that the system of illegal immigration has been allowed to fester and grow with the blessing of the businesses that purposely hire people that they can underpay. This has been done with the government looking the other way but thouroughly aware of what was going on. Anyone with half a brain will realize that the whole issue is one of the issues that the current adminstration is using to divert attention from their odvious mistakes and to try to re gain the support of their party membership who are straddling the line right now. There are many of them out there.
When 911 happened, a lot of people took that to mean that all law abiding Arabs in this country were building bombs and had a hidden agenda. The results were some terrorist acts against these people. Now the situation is focused on Mexicans. People for whatever reason need someone to hate and blame for their own miseries. It also shows how prejudiced this country still is. The whole issue is about illegal immigration. The people of this country seem to think that the only illegal immigrants come from Mexico.

Mexico is basically an oligarchy. The wealthy, the corrupt, and the well-placed control everything, and most of the people have little hope for improving their economic or social condition. (See the first link below, section titled "36 people who own half of Mexico.")
Mexico has no middle class to speak of really---it never really existed. They have, in effect, what proponents of the North American Union are trying to impose on us Norte Americanos, a two-class society of the rich-and-powerful, on the one hand, and the very poor (or "peasants") on the other. NAFTA has benefitted mostly rich American bankers, investors, and industrialists, and the wealthy and powerful in Mexico. (And now Mexico is being projected more as a place to bring in slave-made goods from China that will be trucked into the United States. In other words much of the work Mexicans were supposed to have got from NAFTA has been outsourced to China.)

I have to agree with you that illegal immigration has gotten out of control and it is not America's responsibility. I feel that it is the fault of the business people that hire them without proper identification and legal papers. The government should fine these businesses and have them pay a stiff penalty as well as pay for their transportation back to Mexico. Those that came here legally should have the same rights as the rest of the American citizens.

We can argue that the USA is only responsible for its citizens.

We cannot argue that it is kosher to bash any Mexican immigrant let alone Mexican-Americans. Regrettably, discretion is nil and that is the case in this category by most of the posts. Look at it this way, this is not mainstream America. The best thermometer for an answer here is the user Dars, very active here. Look at his answer profile if you wish to know what is most likely the mainstream view.

The answer to your second question is quite simple.

The influx of immigration by mexicans has A) Quadrupled since their ancestors came and B) Over 90% come illegally.

One, you are right, mexico is NOT a poor country!!!!!!!!!! They are RICH in natural resources!!!!!!!!!!! If their government wasn't so damn CORRUPT, everyone there would have PLENTY, and wouldn't be having to sneak over here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think most people on here criticize "ALL mexicans"!!!! Most of us are just against ILLEGALS, whether they are mexican or something else!!!!! Illegal is ILLEGAL, no matter what country you're from, OR what race!!!!!!!!!

I know for a fact that mexico is a poor country as my primary occupation is to build homes out of re-cycled popcycle sticks for underpriviledged mexican one armed children (left arms only)... and everything everywhere regarding anything important if bad is the responsibility of the U.S.... good things are credited to Canada.

As far as critizing Mexicans... i say... Are you a mexiCAN or a mexiCANT? if ur a MexiCANT then i have nothing more to say to you... If you are a MexiCAN... I have a roof that needs fixin... ;)

This is not America's fault, but there are socal ties and socio-ecnomics tactics used by US such as NAFTA that has crippled and commercialized an entire country for the, not to mention killed the identity of Mexicos economics.

Mexico's social problems are not America's responsibility. It's time that country woke up to it, and started dealing with their own issues instead of expecting americans to 'do the jobs that mexicans won't do for themselves'...
