My older sister just told me that she has been logging in my aim and Yahoo! e-mail. She said she didn't do anything, but I'm still telling my mom (we are 11 and 12). Because I changed my passwords, but she said that she would find them out soon.Am I overreacting or what? What should I do?

I am the baby of 3 girls. i always get hand-me-downs. She has her own. i have nothing to hide. I just want something of my own without my sisters going through it. Plus she said that she could destroy my life because of it.

Being a mom of two girls, I totally understand not wanting your sister to use your aim behind your back. I had the same problem with my girls, and I made sure that they only use their own or that whom ever breaks the rules will loose that privilege. Talk with your mom, you deserve to have privacy.

Invasion of privacy is unacceptable. Has your family made it clear how they stand on the subject of respect for others? Maybe this could be an opportunity to talk about it. Different families have different views on the matter. However, you should make it clear that you have nothing to hide but wish to have and deserve a private space of your own. As for your sister, she probably did it to annoy you, or out of boredom. Maybe her own life is boring and that's why she needs to get involved in your life. I am the mother of three girls so I speak from my own experience.

I think you have a legitimate complaint. How would she feel if you logged into her accounts, most likely the same as you feel.

On the otherhand, you sister may be amused by your reaction. If you don't react, then it takes a certain fascination away from her hacking - and she may soon become bored with your personal life.

Perhaps she should be sanctioned with a day or a weekend away from the computer for her offenses, but you'll have to convince your mom this is appropriate.

Talk to your mom and hopefully she'll understand your need for privacy. As your your sister saying she'll ruin your life, shes just trying to make you angry. Change your passwords. Use numbers, letters and if possible a character too. This way it will be more difficult for her to figure it out. Good luck to you hun.

Pfffffffft. She's just doing it to get a rise out of you and to prove that she can figure out any secret you try to hide from her. Typical sister behavior. *l* Just make up a word and use said made-up word as your password. Don't write it down anywhere, though! Just ignore the fact that she's doing it, don't tell your mother, and eventually she'll drop it because the point was to make you angry.

Make you password very difficult. Include numbers, some caps, some lower case and symbols. Change it regularly.

Their is no reason for her to be invading your privacy.

Maybe get a gmail account and never let her know you have one?
