The title pretty much says it all. Been seeing a guy for a short while and usually I'm pretty good about picking up signals but this ones hard to read. Can be VERY quiet almost passive sometimes.
What are some common signs that he does/will want this to move from a casual thing to a more serious relationship?

We've already been intimate, and were not friends before this, we were introduced through a friend of mine who met him at random.. they stayed in touch a bit and when she found out he was single, thought we'd be good for each other

Why not just wait and see? In time, things should progress naturally without you two ever needing to discuss your 'relatinoship status' and put labels on things.

Depends on what you want. It sounds like you do want to get serious with him, but are you willing to risk what you have to take a chance on something? That's a question for you to ponder.
If you want to be intimate with him, and he wanst to be with you, then it will happen when its the right time. If not then it is probably better to stay friends.
After all, wouldn't you feel weird and funky if one of your guy friends came onto out of the blue?
On that note, don't get drunk with him, unless you are sure of what you want...

the way he looks at you the way he toches you the way he talks to you honestly i don't really know cause im having a hard time with this too. but someone told me you can always tell you just have to give it time to grow and so you can see it clearly. like you said a short while give it time to grow don't go to fast people get hurt to easily that way. hope everything works out! Ask him if he wants to take this relationship to a more serious level. If you are uncomfortable with that, ask his friends, b/c you are too embarassed to ask him yourself. If you want to be all cute about it write him a note saying this: Do you want to be more serious? Circle YES or NO.

he should be showing you interest....like asking you questions about your furture or what u want in life....he should be showing you that he likes you and wants you to be his woman ya feel me.....if he's always quiet and jus going with the flow maybe he is waiting for you to say something to him
