I have the same type of hair. My straighter broke during the spring and had to learn fast how to straighten with just my blow-dryer.
When my hair is soaking wet, I put in a straightening serum. I use Bed Head - Control Freak. Then brush my hair and put in mouse. Brush again.
I leave my hair then to let the products settle a bit. Start my makeup a bit. About 5 mins.
Then I blow-dry it almost totally dry. Keep putting my finger downward through my hair like brushing, but with my fingers it always seems to come out better.
I finish my make-up, then complete blow-drying my hair.
Usually by now it is totally straight and smooth. John Freida’s products work great at this point. It smoothes out anything else. Fixes the ‘lion look’ if I ever get that. Just don't put in too much!
If that is not enough to make your hair as nice as you want, the best straightener I have ever used is called Chi. It is pretty expensive, but it makes any type of hair perfect. It’s amazing.

Good luck!

I have the same kind of hair, curly and frizzy and a pain in the neck. Most important thing to do is keep your hair conditioned to help reduce frizz. Also, when blow drying, use a big round brush and concentrate the air on the part of hair touching the brush (ie don't blow the hair between the brush and your scalp or you'll end up frizzing it). Always blow dry your hair downward (going against the grain frizzes it too). Make sure you get all of the water out and your hair is completely dry or it'll kink up and once you are completely done drying your hair, go over it with a good blast of COLD air. It helps close up the hair shaft and makes it shiny and sets the style. Hope this helps.

Girl, first when you get out of the shower and your hair is soaking wet, put in some Frizz Eaze by John Frieda. Just blow dry your hair with a large flat paddle brush and if it's not straight then... I would recommend going to Walmart or Target and buying the Revlon brand white straightening iron. I've bought the expensive ones and this one has always worked the best without damaging my hair.

Good luck! :)

Okay, since you can't afford the expensive one, you can try pulling your hair back very tight in a bun overnight.(wet) I have thick, curly hair as well. I pull it back over night or for the first day and the front is straight; then it will make it easier to straighten the rest. I use Redken Straight (a lot) when wet then pull back in a bun. The next day I straighten it with my Chi Iron. I know you can't afford one but the bun thing will help when you do blow dry it. Also be careful with too much serum after you style it can recurl your hair.

use an anti-frizz serum first on damp hair. take a round brush and blow dry in sections by concentrating the nozzle on each section as you pull the brush thru. I think the best way to have totally straight hair though is with a straightener- there's a Revlon one for only $20 and it works wonders!

well it depends on what you are doing right after you wash your hair you may need to take more time with yours . take a weekend or a day when you know you are not going any where and wash your hair then get a really good deep conditioner and saturate your hair with that. then sit under the dryer with a plastic cap to keep your hair together and the conditioner won't run every where. do this for about 10 to 15 min.( the heat will open the hair pores.this will help later on when you have to do your hair.) then rinse you hair with cool water this will close the pores and keep your strong put maybe a hair serum on to prevent frizzyness and by small section blow dry hair on low temp. then go back by sections and spray a heat protector on hair and use a flat iron to flatten out hair and hopefully it will come out fine to finish use a nice finishing hiar spray with a shine protien in it. or skip all of that and got to a good hair dresser and take note on all the products she uses on your hair and by those anyways good luck.

You may want to try a flat iron, specifically a CHI flat iron. I had the same problem you do, extremly curly hair and it frizzes if I use a blow dryer, but the CHI works wonders!!

Okay, sometimes using an hairdryer can make your hair dry and brittle. Mine is not very straight either, try using mousse, then straighten it? I am 11, and not very sure about it, you could try it though, I let my hair dry air-drying, it keeps your hair stronger
