Firstly, there is no guarantee ANY kind of parrot is going to talk, not even an African Grey or Amazon, who are usually acknowledged as best at it. If this is very important to you,the only sure thing is to buy or adopt a bird that already knows several words . That said, there is no answer to your question. I know of at least one parakeet that talks beautifully, and it is a parakeet that holds the world record for largest vocabulary. Many cockatiels learn to talk well also. However,it usually takes a lot of daily attention to encourage a bird to talk-don't expect a CD to do it. Parrots are like little kids in the way they learn language-they don't just "parrot" back like a tape recorder, contrary to what most people think. They use language appropriately and in context.

There is no easy way to teach any bird talk, especially not a female budgie. It would be easier if you had started when it was very young, easier if it were a male, easier if it were a parrot. Even so, generally talking to birds a lot helps: using repetitive phrases, eg. always say "hi Birdie" or whatever when you enter the room. Parakeets are often better at imitating sounds rather than speech. I had one that imitated the microwave beeps. Another that sang along to music, changing the pattern to suit the song. See what other talents your bird has and enjoy it for its bird qualities.

Females rarely talk (belive it or not LOL) Don't get a male or he will just want the female. Guess your stuck for now.

We worked with our Male cockatiel for months and months to whistle or talk. All he learned was the sound of the Doorbell!

Never work with kids or animals LOL

Persistence. And treats. Just keep trying. When you're home, talk to her... constantly. Reward her when she answers you in any way... chirps, whistle, whatever. You should work with her at least 15 minutes every day. Trying too long at a time could bore or stress your bird. Good luck

Buy one of those CDs made especially to train your bird to talk. Seems to me that the males have a better reputation for talking.

Nevertheless, you can run the CD endlessly while you're NOT home, so it doesn't drive you nuts!

LoL

just say the word or sentace you want it to learn over and over, for a few minutes and do this every day till you hear the bird repeating it, it might say it when you dont excpect it, parakeets dont usally repeat a word right after you say it, they taalk when the feel like it

Most female keets never talk. From my 10 year experience raising birds, I've only ever seen males talk.
