I want to tell my boyfriend that I love him but last night when I told him playfully and he thought I was serious..he choked on popcorn and said that it was too deep for him. And we had another conversation about it and he said that he doesn't believe in love and he doesn't want to put himself out there to be hurt again. I can't promise him anything but I need to get this off my chest. And I'm thinking we're grown as hell...why am I going through this?What do I do?

Well i guess he has been hurt alot in the past. Either you could accept it and wait until he is ready or leave him alone.

What is your definition of grown?
No matter what age you are if a person does not want to be loved and doesn't want to love then they just won't. Obviously there is a deeper reason here he didn't just wake up one day and say I don't believe in love. If you care enough to want to know then maybe you should dig into his past and see why he feels the way he does. If you think it's just not worth the aggrivation and that you're too grown to have to deal with this then just as easily as you came in you can get out of this relationship. You deserve better obviously.

u may have to wait a bit.. he has issues he needs to deal with. However... u have to find out what ur relationship is about, an dif it's going somewhere. if he doesn't want or think he can change, even for u, then u may want to find someone who DOES see a future for love and marriage. i know u love him, but if he's not ready for a relationship, u are headed for a rocky road.... there's not much stability w/ a guy who gave up on love! and u love him, so staying w/ him is just going to be torture for you.. u need to find someone who can make u feel safe, secure, and trust him to take care of u.... if this guy is not it, it's ok.... it's ok to have expecations and needs and wants.. because i'ts a 2 way street.. u can't love him and get nothing in return......

Sounds like he's got some committment issues. You need to sit down and have a long talk with him. Talk about your future together, where is your relationship going? If he can't commit to being in love, how the heck is he going to commit to having a future, ( ie, marriage ) together. Stop giving up the booty and see what happens.

yeah you might be old enough to know what love is if your not to young but your guy might not. just give him time. how long have you been dating? if its not long enough you have to give it time. guys don't usually go into love that fast unless they just want you as a play thing. if a guy says he loves you right when you guys start going out he doesn't mean it. give your guy some time to find out maybe he got hurt once and he doesn't want it to happen again. i thought that i loved someone and then they hurt me really bad then you find out it wasn't true. give it time. grow with your realationship first. i really hope every thing works out for you!!
