A woman I work with and good family friend just became a great-grandmother today. I'd love to give her some sort of nice token gift (read: fairly inexpensive <$30), but not flowers. Any suggestions?

I should mention that we work for a home accessory company that makes frames and candleholders, albums, etc...So that type of thing is out - but great suggestion, thanks!

You can start a charm bracelet for her. A nice sterling silver bracelet is inexpensive, and then you could buy a cute baby charm. Most nice department stores carry these items. I have seen baby bottle, diaper, and booty charms for example.

I would go with something she could use to proudly display pictures of her great-grandchild. How about a crystal picture frame? Stores like Boscov's, J C Penney's, Macy's, etc always have these on sale. You could also get a little card with the baby's name and meaning to enclose with it. You can find these at some card shops or gift stores. Oh, also try Things Remembered in your local mall. They always have great momentos and you can get engraving for a reasonable price.

Nothing. Be a thoughtful attentive grandchild. Resolve to spend quality time with her. Get to know & understand her better. Listen to her stories, tell her yours. Make grin, giggle & laugh. All of the money in the world cannot buy these things. Put yourself in her shoes and act upon that. Eighty-seven comes sooner than you think. Maybe the same will be done for you if you are lucky to have a thoughtful grandchild.

Wow that is cool. My grandmother only saw 7 of her 10. But I would give her anything she possible needs. Money or gift certificates to places where she shops or eats or buys her coffe

give her a picture of you and her together! it would be better if both of you were doing something together in the picture. :D then make her a card or a song.
