I did have a fear but I've learned to conquer it by dealing with it. If you pay attention in the plane, it's not that scary. I travel a lot, so by now I'm used to it. But before all I could do was squeeze my Dad's hand. LOL

learn to fly!
really: the more you know about it, the less scary it will be.
did you know that 98% of all accidents occur on start and landing? that means: you only need to be nervous for the first and last 10 minutes!
it will be bumpy when you get through the clouds, but that means the dangerous part is over!
I love flying more then anything else (sorry Dave!), you'll enjoy it once you get used to it!

Stare out the window, you won't feel as closed in... Many people are shocked by the flexing of the wings, but that is normal... I always thought if the pilots trusts the plane, so should I... Try to entertain yourself, and don't try to sleep since that will only make you more conscious of the turbulence...
