Good question! I would get some carpet cleaner like Resolve and let it air dry outside. I used this stuff on my seats when I sold my car and it worked better than the car upolstry stuff. After it is all good smelling put a pad or a blanket under the sheet so then you just have to wash that. Odor X spray works awesome, that is in the car department.

Not febreeze. You have to vacuum shampoo it.That is the best way I know to clean it and get the oder out.Febreeze does not correct the fact that the bed will still have a lot of sweat on it.Febreeze only nuetralises the smell. But the germs are still there.I had a friend who had his dog piss on his bed.I let him borrow my bissel shampoo vacuum and it got the job done. You could even see the dirty water with a yellow tint go through the hose.It got the job done.

Febreze it or if you can, bring it outside on a nice day and let it get cleaned by the air.
And if he can't sleep with his window open, you should put a fan in his room to keep him cool, or have lighter blankets and sheets in there. You can also get a mattress pad with like a rubber or plastic top if it's really bad.

Steam Clean to get all the sweat, etc out of the mattress and then Febreze after that - couple of times a week.

Buy a new one and use a cover to prevent. Orders will never go away and bacteria can form. It is in the mattress not just on top

maybe you should try to teach your son good hygiene..if he refuses to open the window make him open the window..you are the mother right..you are on your way down the wrong path..I think you better start teaching your son better hygiene habits NOW..because by the time he's 18, he'll turn into a full blown slob..and you'll be be smelling more than cardboard

get rid of that mattress, and put a mattress pad that is lined with plastic on the new one. You can't feel the plastic cuz of the padding over it, but it will protect the mattress from liquids.

Fabreeze or.. this might sound weird but there are some liquids you can get at pet stores that remove odours. I know they work great on cat urine, blood stains, animal accidents... I'm sure they'll work on sweat as well!
