I'm almost 18. She is 29. She was my English teacher last year as well as my coach. I have a crush on her; however, she is married and I'm not homosexual. I just really enjoyed her company last year, and would like to keep in touch with her now that I'm going away to college. I would like to be her friend. She emailed me to congratulate me on my AP tests scores, and we talked about me visiting her at school. Now she emailed me and asked me and another friend out to lunch. Is that okay? How can I develop a friendship with her, as well as get over this crush? Thank you in advance for your answers!

Yes, it is fine. That would be really neat. My drama teacher and I were pregnant at the same time and she invited me over to her house for lunch several times and I enjoyed it. As for the crush, it is just a crush and you have it because you admire this teacher. Eventually, that will fade. When you go out to lunch with your teacher, you can tell her how helpful she's been to you and that you would like to stay in touch with her and let her take it from there.
Sometimes it feels weird to go from being student to friend. I have been through that because I went on to work at the school district in the town where I grew up and worked at many of the schools I had attended. So of course, a lot of my former teachers became my colleagues. I still have trouble addressing them by their first names rather than Mrs. or Mr. :)

As long as you go with the friend, i don't think there would be a problem. You will also get over this crush as soon as you go to college. You will meet many more people. You and her could e-mail each other if that is what she wants to do. At your age crushes happen. Your too young to worry about that. Go to college and LIVE and have fun.
