Chewing can help you lower the colaries you intake right? Right? RIGHT?

No chewing does not lower the calories in food. Chewing well does break up your food, making it easier and faster for your stomach to digest it. The less time food is in your stomach, the fewer calories you absorb. Lots of chewing also makes you eat slower, and people who eat slowly tend to eat less food because you are giving your body time to let you know you are full. Haven't you ever eaten a lot of food quickly and not felt full until you had eaten too much? If you eat slowly you almost never over-eat.

Also try drinking a glass of water before you eat; the water helps your digestion and fills you up before you eat too much.

I see where your thinking is going, so yeah, sure, chewing your food makes the calories go away. 10 calories/chew!!!

No. Whatever the calories are for that food, that is what is in it. But the more that you chew, the less that you will eat. I'm not sure why that is supposed to work, but I have heard experts say to chew your food slowly and drink water while you eat. I would assume that when you chew your food to a finer, or smaller, consistency, you would fill up faster and the water would kind of fill in the voids.

NO it does not lower the calorie in the actual food you are ingesting. What it does is takes you LONGER to eat which means the food has time to process in your digestive system making you feel FULL. If you shove food in your mouth at fast speeds you can eat and eat and eat and eat and about 30-45 minutes later you have nothing left in your house to eat and you FINALLY "feel" full. Whereas if you eat slower (by chewing your food completely)...you don't eat as much and feel full before you eat yourself out of house and home.

Also eating foods that are high in fiber helps you to "feel" full more than foods that have no nutritional value that make you "feel" empty.

It doesn't really burn all that many calories (and it definitly doesn't reduce the amount you intake) being really low impact exersize, you sould have to chew each bite for about 10 minutes if it were to have any effect (your jaw would get tired very fast)

chewing cannot lower calories.

if you chew up 10 lbs of potatoe chips over two days. and took your time at it, you would not loose weight. chewing doesnst do it.

NO.............it can supress hunger for a while.......and stop you from picking, but it doesnt lower the calories of the food that you will eat. Chewing gum will increase your saliva......making the digestion of your food easier. Sugar free trident etc... will help with cavities....and remove food from your teeth. Try exercising more...better still drink........LOTS and LOTS of water...at least 10 glasses a day... L.Butler

I suppose that the movement of the muscles in your mouth does consume a tiny amount of energy, yes. I don't think you're going to burn off, say, 500 calories while you're chewing your McGriddles sandwich, though.

it won't reduce the number of calories IN, but you will burn a few more with the action of chewing.

No, but it makes it easier on your digestive system so the food don't stick to your hips and stomach as much.
