They say, I don't know how this started, maybe I can find out. They try to figure it out using reason based on evidence not that kind of assumption on a higher power. The problem is that we are so late and such a small part of the universe that evidence can be too ancient or completely none existant on our one little tiny rock we call home. So we accept this and still search but accept that we may never understand completely due to the limitations of our mind, until a genious of great proportions comes along (Einstein, Newton) and makes things a little clearer. We know we may never find that answer but we always get a little closer, like a logarithm, always getting closer but never reaching the end.

So does either side think I'm full of crap? Can we atleast agree on this? And does this completely disprove that atheists aren't arrogant like so many theists claim but possibly even more humble as atheism is pretty much the admition that we don't have all the answers?

WAIT, READ THIS DETAIL
Before I get jumped for being a generalizing bastard, I mean the ones who do say this.

I mean the ones who say how can you be so arrogant to not believe in God. When believing in God is a way of saying anything I don't understand must be miracle. Seems a little more high and mighty.

I mean that the atheist theory isn't arrogant, anyone can be arrogant no matter what.

2006-08-08 09:45:10 · update #4

And I don't think anyone not believing in God can be called preumptuous because that's all faith and having no faith for valid reasons is very reasonable.

One person asked why I don't want to believe there is a creator. Because I believe man made God not the other way around. It seems way too convient a way to trick people the way a religions explain their god. Plus it contradicts my own personal belief that anything magical can't exist. Not an attack I was asked my beliefs for anyone reading this.

No one goes up to an atheist and says "goodness, you are arrogant!" When atheists attack Christians for believing the Bible, they always use the argument that anyone who believes God's word is ignorant, and since they themselves don't believe, they (the atheists) must be extremely intelligent. Now that is ARROGANCE!.

Wow honey! What a mouth full. I dont think you are full of crap at all. In fact i agree with what you say. I am very thankful for all the discoveries Einstein and Newton made. Without intelligent and brave people like them i would have been killed by now by all the christians. I dont mind NOT having all the answers....its OK. But some people have so much fear of not knowing things that they make things up in order to appease their fear and doubt....when they should just relax and accept the fact that you cant know every secret there is out there.

Well, first of all I want to let you all know that I shouldn't have called you guys arrogant. I am just saying that those who are sure that there is no God are arrogant because they can't prove themselves right. It's like saying I know this believe me! But there is no proof that there is no God. Also there is no 100% proof that there is a God. You might think that we Christians are arrogant because we believe they know the answers to everything. The fact is we DON'T! It's just that based on evidence that match the Bible we concluded that there must be a God. One great scientist (I don't know the name) said that the only two explanations of how this earth came to be is either evolution or creation. He also said that the only one that makes sense is creation, but he chose evolution just because he didn't want to believe creation was true.

Just a question: Why don't believe even want to let the idea that there is a creator?

Most of the atheists on here are arrogant. I see it this way because they think they are right and so much smarter than theists because they don't waste their time believing. It doesn't hurt a believer to believe so why hassle them about it so much? If they are happy just leave them alone. Christians and other theists can be just as arrogant but they turn it into a love thing its more like I love you and you are wrong so I will pray for you, it makes it sound less condescending but its just as wrong

Well maybe someone would believe an Atheist to be arrogant to assume there is no higher power that has suspended the planets in mid-air., and allowed them to rotate for specific reasons. For all pregnant women do not talk to there bellies everyday and say things like ok baby form toes, now your nails, tomr your spine, etc. Skin has a pre-coded program to heal when it gets penetrated or broken, who could of planted that program in your body, someone who is trying to protect you...a higher being! Think about it. He also gave u five senses to enjoy this thing called life, to see it, smell the flowers and trees, to feel your loved ones to hear the birds and sound, and sin is destroying all that is good, not God! Not judging u, extending love...

Atheists are surely arrogant in that they are quite positive & adamant that they know there is no higher power. How DOGMATIC they are!

That's stupidity.

If they have proofs that there is no higher power, let them come up with them.

If they say there is none, the burden of proof rests with them.

No one compels or forces them to believe the Text & in the higher power. It is left to their choice. What does it matter to the world whether they believe in or not.

They need not be so self-centred as if they matter most.

When one has a FREE WILL to decide on everything, let them too decide what is comfortable to them!

No objection. But let them not try to brainwash others as all have Freewill & there is no need to be noseled.

I don't believe that atheists are arrogant.. I don't give them that much credit.. you have to be right at least part of the time to be arrogant... atheists are never right..
I would rather spend my life believeing there is a God and finding out there wasn't .. than to live my life as there was no God and find out there is...

Atheism is the ultimate humility. We don't claim to have all the answers, as the bible does... We also don't claim to be the most important creatures in the universe, as the theists do.

Christians in particular are so backwards and contradictory in their thinking, that it's no wonder they refuse to argue about their beliefs. They can't. And they will put their hands over their ears and say "la la la la la" before they will consider questioning themselves. If they were to spend even 5 minutes rationally debating their ridiculous beliefs, their faith would be lost.

And they know it.

It's true that we don't have all the answers. I can admit that and I am a Bible-believing Christian.
And there is arrogance on both sides. That's the plain fact.

I am an atheist, and although I consider theists arrogant, I myself have never been called arrogant. I don't really think it is arrogant to think you are right if all evidence supports your conclusion.
