READ THIS ... I initially thought he was guilty, but now I do not know.
The fact is, adding testosterone to your system for one day does not help your performance.
In order for the "cheating drugs" to work (testosterone, HGH, steroids), you have to take them regularly for at least 2 weeks. These drugs are NOT an energy source. Their presence in your system helps you build stamina and endurance. They need to be continuously added to your system over a long period of time (a couple of weeks) in order for their beneficial affect to be experienced.
The above is common knowledge in the world of elite athletes.
So how come Landis passed all the tests, except for one day? There is no reason why he would have taken extra testosterone for just one day.

Only Floyd knows for sure, but consider the following:
1. Steroid/testosterone use is one of the easiest drugs to detect, so why would Floyd take it?
2. Testosterone is a hormone, synthetic or not, and would show up for 2-3 days after taking it, not just one. Why didn't he test positive on Stage 18 or 19?
3. During the Tour, you will sometimes hear of riders that were ejected from the race for testing positive the day before. If that's how doping is usually handled, why did the French wait a week after "finding" testosterone in his blood?
4. Here's the big question: how many French people handled Floyd's blood samples before "finding" synthetic testosterone? This ties in with the previous question, seeing that it took longer than usual, without explanation, to accuse Floyd of doping. Why is that?
Basically, until blood tests for athletes work as efficiently and effectively as a breathalyzer screens for alcohol, there are FAR too many ways for a sample to be tampered with or mistakes to be made.

it's possible he's being framed, what we need is an independent lab to analyze the samples. unfortunately there are only a few experts in the world that can do this kind of analysis.
in response to the above answerer, the labs can tell the difference between synthetic and natural testosterone. synthetic testosterone is derived from plants (like soybeans) and has a slightly different chemical structure than the one produced in our bodies. it's not just that landis had high levels of the hormone, it was high levels of the artificial one.
more likely he was desperate to win and decided to take something, maybe he was drunk and wasn't thinking straight. somebody must know if he had some synthetic testosterone around, this kind of thing is not easy to hide. his best bet now is just to confess and say he was under a lot of pressure and apologize.

NO -- face it, he's guilty;why the conspiracy theory? You don't want to believe it, Floyd is no Lance, I can see the French trying to derail Lance, he broke every record imaginable and silenced his critics 7 years in a row. This makes a good cover story for Floyd, but this is the weakest excuse since the fake accusation of Zidane's mother and sister being called terrorists by Materrazi. This is what cowards do they don't accept resposibly for their actions. I bet you believe Barry Bonds used steriods even though he has never tested for steriods. So how do you justify or reconciled these 2 reactions to the same scenario.

I am clueless to the truth in this situation, but I'll tell you this: knowing full well the consequences of taking performance enhancing drugs, one would have to be a complete fool to do it in full view of perhaps the world's largest audience!! Framed or not, Floyd Landis will have to live with the decision for the rest of his life!

What about the previous samples?? Even he stated that he had to give at least 8 samples before/during the race. If it takes weeks to get into the blood system -- how come it just came out 'after' he won. Yes, he is being framed.

I don't think he is being framed. But I don't think that he took any steroids either. I really do think he just has high testosterone levels. Or it may be that the French have low levels and all Americans have high levels compared to them (just joking, in case any one thinks I am being serious). But I don't think this is a conspiracy against him or America as a whole, just a bad situation that happened as part of chance.

The French didn't frame him, and why would anyone sabotage him on the day he has just cracked and got his *** kicked by the rest of the field? He took synthetic testosterone enhancers and he got caught, just face it he's a cheater!! It as easy as putting on a testosterone patch on his balls and there ya go.. Plus my boy Oscar deserved to win it, Floyd sucked as champ! I hope they ban him for 2 years!

He got busted! Whether knowingly taking it or unknowingly he still was taking it. Pay the piper!
And to the person who responded that hes a Mennonite so he could never take it!
Your kidding right? You need to come out of your little world and join the rest of us. He is a competitor and no matter what his belief he still wants to win! He obviously needed a edge over his competition so he made a decision and know he has to live with it!

It is quite possible. Anyone that has been around a few years knows there is no such thing as independent anything. The lab is as independent as who hired them, who works there, etc, and the samples could be anything or anything allowed to happen to them. And then someone could have slipped something to Landis or their supplies.
