It is interesting to note that without exception the people on here are all interested in Truth or they would not be asking questions. It doesn't make sense to as a question looking for just any old answer. My question is that, if all, so called religions, have truth as a basis then what is the difference between truth and God? This is focused at athiest people that say they do not believe in God, but would appreciate all points of view.

All 3 are interchangable. They're the exact same thing.

According to Christianity, God is Love. So there's those two.

Truth is not necessarily God or Love. The issue with atheists and agnostics and believers is: do you believe in something without proof? Believers: no proof, belief. Agnostics: no proof, no decision to believe or not. Atheists: no proof, no belief.

Technically, the agnostics are a bit more logical than the other two. But they're not necessarily right. Truth is not logic--you can have logic without truth. Logic is just based on what evidence you can scare up for a trial (argument, if it's not in court) and whether it's admissable--whether it's proof. So truth and logic aren't always together, and they're not the same thing.

And saying that everyone on here is interested in Truth is very kind of you, but I wouldn't say it was, um, true. Some people spout off their beliefs and don't give a s**t whether it's true or not. You can believe in something untrue. I don't think all religions are paths to the truth--spirituality, maybe, but if you look at dangerous cults like Jim Jones and Aum Shinrikyo, then what truth were they espousing? How did they get closer to the truth by suicide and gassing people in subways? It's too bad that people have taken moral relativism to such ridiculous extremes--can't we just admit that some cults are dangerous and aren't religions (no matter what they call themselves)? If children are exploited and put in danger, they should be removed from these harmful cults until they are old enough to make a decision to join these groups or not. I guess people can believe what they want, but not when children are put in harm's way as part of a "religion". There's no Truth, or Love, or God in that kind of religion. Spirituality is great, but many religions are hateful and harmful and should be regulated so that only consenting adults are allowed to join them.

As soon as you say God, you have caused polarization. Just say Creator. God is a defined creator who is part of a religion.

God the Creator is truth. Science pursues the truth. Thus, science tries to understand creation, the works of a Creator.

A Creator creates for a reason, a purpose. A Creator want to admire, to love what they did. That's natural. However, if it did not come out right, they will sweep it away and start again, because they want it right. So, love is associated with right, judgement with wrong.

A simple, short and kind of glib explanation that is really much more complex.

Truth about existence of God is normally based on experience. Experienced from the environment one grew up with. Truth does not neccessarily have to have material proof and oftentimes it is what was created in the mind during the child's formative period or in the mind of man who have no choice but to believe. While most believers have no tangible proof about God's existence, the atheist have no evidence either to say that God does not exist both must accept that truth exists only from what each person firmly believe.
There are times great leaders of the world justified their wrongdoings by telling their subjects that it is neccessary in order to achieve peace. While it is not true, the subjects who fear reprisals from their leader accepted it as the right thing; then, the lie became true that even the leaders started to believe themselves as the truth while it has not been contested or proven otherwise. I was born and raised to believe in the existence of our creator, because it is the only thing at the moment that holds the answer to my nagging question "why am I here on earth and in this state of life. Do I really just have to live so that I will just die in the end or is there another reason?" I do not think atheist can have an answer to that.
Love on the other hand is a gesture of giving yourself to others and it takes two to complete its total meaning....someone who gives and someone who receives. To a believer like me Love is a living gift of God because he gave me life and that life is the only thing I can give back as a manifestation of my love and gratitude to Him. "LOVE AND GOD ARE MY TRUTH." while "FACTS, FICTIONS AND SCIENCE ARE THE ATHEIST TRUTH." I do not really believe they contradict, to me they compliment each other. So, why not try to blend them in order for the day to come when all of us will see REALITY FROM THE TRUTH?

In my way of thinking, there shouldn't be a difference. Isn't all religion ultimately a search for Truth? But with the number of people twisting the teachings of Jesus into something hateful and judgmental and the number of people killing in the name of Allah, it would seem that a lot of people have lost sight of that. BTW, I'm not an atheist; I believe in a higher power and refer to it as God although many religious people would take issue with my doing so because everyone is so caught up in claiming God for themselves and denying that the rest of us are seeking the Truth as well.

Hmmmm...... I'm not sure if I read this question right, but I think that truth and God are different in that truth is truth, and God is truth but doesn't really enjoy LOOKING like truth.

Truth is Truth- if you go ahead and say "Most people on this earth have less than two heads", this statement can be widely regarded as truth, because it can be proven.

God is Truth- this may be true, but God doesn't like proving that He actually exists. He prefers leaving implications to His existence. You can say that the lovely view outside your living room window is all the evidence you need to say that God is truth, but that be easily refuted as simple laws of nature.

See what I mean? Truth is truth, and God SAYS that He's truth as well, but doesn't want to prove it in order for faith in Him to actually mean something. Faith doesn't NEED proof.

truth and god cannot exist together. what you believe of god id YOUR truth. having assumed you know everything there is to know abotu life and what not, you cease seeking truth. personally, truth or answers for everything in the world cannot be found a in book that the church gives away for free. doesn't work like that. what atheists search for is some measure of truth. theists believe truth is in a book. one cannot be the end all absolute truth for everything. it's all a matter of belief. many theists will describe the bible as the ultimate source of knowledge and truth bcuz it is "gods" word. they have no REAL proof for this except what they've been told. this is called hearsay, not actual fact. of course the next logical step is to ask someone who was alive 2000 or so years ago and ask them if this is all true or not. can't happen. so you either go on what you were told, not what you found out to be the truth, but what you were told to believe in.

God is Love. When a person is born of God, God gives child of God the Spirit of Truth. The Spirit of Truth leads into all truth recalling to mind the Word of God. Is not a liar. God's Love gives us the truth & the truth sets free & God gives us everlasting life.

Love was defined by Plato as "permanent possession of goodness for oneself".

Truth may be defined as something "according to reality".

Those are two very different concepts. And regarding religion, and to your question of "what is the difference b/t truth and God?", I wouldn´t know where to start!
They have absolutely nothing in common! Assuming you mean God as in Christian religion, I can only say that neither moral nor religion connect in any point with reality. (remeber our definition about truth?) All causes in religion are IMAGINARY (God, the Devil, spirit, etc.). All effects are IMAGINARY (Paradise, Hell, Sin, Grace, Forgiveness, etc.). This imaginary "world" has its roots in hatred for the real; hatred for nature (instincts, cravings, etc.)

Where is the similarity between love, and truth, and God???

Religions don't have truth as a basis. They have faith as a basis. And the real existence of what you're supposed to have faith in cannot be "truly" proved. So, I'd say that religions in general, and the existence of god in particular are the exact opposite of truth.

truth and love is something that can be felt, and actually exist, the problem is finding it,you could say the same for god,but for some reason why should i be like hey that's god because i feel love and just because truth is real as opposed to something being false, that's a sad argument.in other words,i find it impossible to believe that all love comes with a godlike presence, truth is the opposite of false......
