I have a friend who will be 24, an artist and who is a Leo if it helps any. What is a good present? Should I make one, buy one, or what? Your help is appreciated.

I think an artist has a truly keen eye for unique original things. They see the world as most of us do not. The envision beauty that most of us cannot dream to behold and they can turn a canvas and paint into a incredibly brilliant work of art. If you wanted to go with something ordinary and reliable I would go with the gift certificate to the art supply store or the book on world renowned artist. However, if you wanted to show that you have an artistic and creative flair as well I would suggest making something home made. Or even taking something store bought and giving it your own artistic flare. Some ideas I have are to maybe put together a few canvases. Don't buy them at the store but them together yourself to be more personal. Ho-made jewelry is also great , take a mason jar and add the dry ingredients need for a quick and funky "you" original recipe. Take a article of clothing and jazz it up with your own flare. Pants, purses, bags, even paint brush cases. The possibilities are limited I'm sure whatever you choose will show to your friend just how much you value his/her friendship.

My former roommate is an artist, and I never give her cash or art supplies. She always seems to make her rent and buy supplies, and I know those are the only two things she'll spend her own money on. I try to get her things she normally wouldn't buy for herself, like a 4-star dinner out or theater tickets.

Realistically, a good book or DVD on the philosophy of art. DVDs: Art In the 21st Century; How Art Made the World. Books: Art&Physics; Art&Fear, Imagining America (as well as the DVD).

As a visual person I love a good book with lots of good photographs or images that can inspire me and/or use as a reference in my work. Find what type of subjects or artists is your friend interested on. When I visit other fellow artists I always find these kind of books on their shelves.

get creative make him/ her something that represents what he means to you or how you see him, if he's an artist he'll appreciate creativity and the time and dedication you put in the gift, if not then stuff he likes , movies , books on artists , gift cards but i mean ...none of that compares to some sort of mixed media collage with stuff that represents the bond you two have ...
