I have a friend who was a victim of abuse and he would like to go to the doctor/dentist. Who participates in that? Any dentist? Do we just send the bill to the programs address?

P.S. It's not a scam, the defendent has been in jail for this crime as it has been reported, documented, and being pursued by the deputy D.A. Real answers, please.

This is not a scam. The person who committed crime usually pays some sort of restitution which part of it going into a victims fund. Not just for the victim of that particular crime but to help all victims seeking help. It's also funded by our tax dollars. You need to get authorization from the program before you can utilize those services unless you want to foot the whole bill. Usually the worse the crime the more benefits you will be able to receive and the larger the dollar amount you will be able to use.
If you are a victim of crime contact your D.A.'s office in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred as they will be able to give you the information on the program and the benefits, if any you will be able to receive.

I hope your friend gets better soon...Good luck!

I know that in TX you can apply for the program before or after the bills are incurred. Before is probably best so you can find a doctor/dentist that will accept that form of payment. I'm sure it's similar in CA. Good luck to you and your friend. I hope he/she gets better soon.

Well I'm sure it was someones good idea but it sounds like a scam whose time has come. Hate to be so cynical, but.....I'm sure the abuse has to be documented both medically and in police files. Someone on Yahoo Q and A will surely know the answer or maybe you can just phone your local police dept. for more info.
