my ex stopped our relationship because he cant handle his fathers depression and us at the same time, which i understand. he told me he loves me (the first time ever in our 9 months of dating) and said that we should take a break. what do you think the odds of us getting back together are? what is he thinking? why would he wait until now to tell me? any insight? whats going on.....!

Maybe theres too much going on for him to handle at the moment with all the stress and stuff happeining around him and just needs time. Give him space and talk to him now and then to see if everythings okay. When he's ready, he'll come back.

Hmm. He can't handle being in a relationship while his father is depressed?! The relationship should have helped him deal with his father's depression. Sounds like he wanted to break up and couldn't give you any significant reason other than he's just not that into you. Saying I love you is so you'll hang around and pine in case the women he's seeing right now doesn't pan out.

Not calling you selfish or anything, but you need to think about him and his father's needs. His father is going through something that he needs his son's help with. I say be there for him. Be his support system. Be there for his father too. Maybe he didn't feel as much presure to say 'I love you' to you when you two broke up. I totally understand where he's coming from. Just Give him time and I'm sure he'll come back to you for being a good friend when he needed it.

Many answers! First off, He may love you, but why the breakup, right? He should have support during this time with his dads depression. Why not you? Well, he may have found his support elsewhere. Whether it be a new girl, or diving into a bottle of J.D. The real question should be, do you love him enough to want him back? Does he know this? However, many guys look at love like toilet paper. Soft and pretty 'till you wipe your *** and flush it!

Odds are not good, but why would you want to hang out with someone who has to take care of their dad's depression?
If his Dad's depressed what do you think the odds that his son is infected too? I'm not saying it's impossible, but this could be a good sign for you to GET OUT while you can!

This guy is trouble. Run away from him. He is going to have some fun without you for a bit and the reason he told you he loves you after the fact is that he wants to save you for later. So move on with your life without him.

Hey he did the right thing he needs to be with his father right now..just give him his space and when he is ready he will be in touch......His father needs him right now and if you love him you can understand that can't you....Don't worry he will be back..he wouldn't have told you he loved you if he didn't want you

First of all he is not in love with you. The only reason he says I Love You is to keep you as a back up. Just in case he doesn't fined another "Hook-Up" sooner. Move on quickly!!!
